Movie Reviews of My Super Ex-Girlfriend

Movie Review: I Like This Fun Little Film!
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie combined two of my favorites - Ivan Reitman and Uma Thurman. It did not hit my sky high expectations, but I enjoyed it anyway because of these two amazing and talented people. There were plenty of great scenes - I laughed the loudest when I saw the car in orbit with "you suck" written on it.

Fundamentally, this movie tries to be funny and to a lesser extent, serious at the same time, a tightrope that's just too narrow to walk. I think if the studio guys had just left well enough alone, and let Ivan HAVE AS MUCH FUN AS HE WANTED, this could have been another classic. I like the story idea, but we should have left the "seriousness" to spider and batman. More gags, pranks, one-liners, sexual humor (the bed smashing through the wall was fun), w/no physical injuries would have been fabulous. G-Girl should have been allowed to torment her boyfriend without anyone getting hurt. That would have been fun. The villian was under developed. He could have been more..., and the script didn't allow Uma to do as much as she could have.

Also, the animated "shark" scene seemed out of place. It didn't belong in the movie, not just because of the animation, but because it was too threatening - G-Girls revenge should have remained mostly funny (like the car in orbit, etc.).

"G-Girl" introduced me to Anna Faris. She was very sweet and funny. She has done alot of slapstick type films, but I think she'd be worthy in a drama.

Like I said in an earlier review, I'd enjoy watching Uma solve a rubix cube, but I'd have to add to that any other boring activity that would come alive with Uma's participation, such as taking a driving test, mowing the lawn, or washing dishes, etc., she is fantastic just being in existance, just being alive. As for Ivan, I'm going to blame his subdued handling of this film as constraint from the studio. Next time, let 'er rip!!

Anyway, I enjoyed it, and have watched it again, twice!

Movie Review: Personnally, 1 of the Strongest Movies of the Summer!
Summary: 5 Stars

Before i start, i'm actually 16. I'm just using this way for easy use.

Anyway, i saw a load of films over the summer, Pirates 2, Nacho Libre, Miami Vice, Wickerman, Severence, You Me & Dupree, John Tucker Must Die, Severence & Snakes on a Plane. But the one that stood out the most for me. My favourite movie of the summer, 'My Super Ex Girlfriend.

I absolutley loved it, and have pre-ordered it on dvd. This movie had a lot of sexual humour, which i love. So if you don't love sexual humour, than maybe this isn't the movie for you. But any who, this film did have other types of humor, like slapstick which isn't over done, or when G-Girl is getting her revenge by destroying Matt's car and thorwing a shark at him.

This acting is great aswell. Uma Thurman(Kill Bill, Be Cool, Prime) plays G-Girl, an strange, nerotic women who agrees to go out with Matt Saunders, played by Luke Wilson(Old School, Charlies Angles), who gets told her secret identity, and finds it a huge hassel after a while. So he decides to break it off. Not long after, he starts dating his co-worker Hannah, Played by the beautiful and very talented Anna Faris (Scary Movies 1-4, Just Friends, Waiting). Raine Wilson plays Matt's friend, who has some funny lines. I forgot is credit name though. Eddie Izzard also stars, as the professor. He wants to capture G Girl and take away her powers with the help from Matt. Why? Bexcause he's in love with her.

The thing is about this film is that it isn't a chick flick at all. It's a super hero film. But not a comic one, i don't think. An original one. This is a romantic, comedy which is amazing. Watch it. You won't be dissapointed. It even has great music.

Movie Review: UMA Rocks!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you are looking for a serious, almost factual, female superhero this will disapoint you.

If you want to be entertained, if a funny version of Superman might appeal too you then you will love this movie. Its part love story, part just pain silly, part jealous- even PMSing superwoman, and ALL UMA. If you love UMA THURMAN, as I do, you already have this disk.

Here is the story in a nutshell.

UMA's character, G Girl was exposed to a meterorite as a teenager. I made her grow breasts, become Blonde and super strong. She becomes a super hero. Her boyfriend feels marginalized and even jilted. He becomes an evil genius.

As an adult she meets a shy guy archetect. The get along so so. He really has a thing for a coworker. When G Girl finds out the trouble starts!

Thin plot. Very entertaining in its simplicity. No heavy thinking. I loved it. And its fairly safe to let the kids watch. There is implied sex, but you don't see anything.

Movie Review: Laugh Out Loud Funny!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Dang, I don't remember the last time I laughed this much in a movie. And it wasn't just me, the whole theatre was cracking up BIG time!!! No, this movie isn't gonna win any awards or anything, and yes, the plot is silly and ridiculous, but that is exactly why I go to the movies. To escape from REAL life. And this movie was a great escape. Uma Thurman was the perfect choice to play G-Girl. She is so damn good at being funny, bad, just everything you would want in your not so average superhero. Luke Wilson also does an outstanding job as playing the witty boyfriend of G-Girl. All in all, I highly recommend this to all who are looking for a great romantic comedy that includes a superhero. lol You will not be dissapointed!! 5 Stars!

Movie Review: SUPERGIRL MEETS FATAL ATTRACTION
Summary: 5 Stars

I have never seen an Anne Faris I didn't like. This was no exception. The movie plot was clever. It had parts that could have been better, but overall it was a great. Uma Thurman plays a superhero who is neurotic. As a jealous ex-girlfriend Uma lets us know how far a woman's scorn can go when she has the ability to say, throw a live shark through your window. What I normally dislike in super hero movies are the long drawn out fight sequences between superhero and super villain, such as Ironman. In this one, I had hoped for a longer superwoman cat fight between Anne Faris and Uma Thurman. A good compromise movie to watch, as it is part chick flick, part guy flick.
