Movie Reviews of My Favorite Wife

Movie Review: Classic - in the age of Classic movies..
Summary: 5 Stars

Since this film was made, the plot has been copied, changed around and generally abominated, by more than one script writer, film-maker, or author. I would be lying if I pretended to KNOW that this version was the original. I CAN say, it is the best I have seen, of the many copies.

Both Cary Grant and Irene Dunne 'feed' off one another remarkably well and produce a movie that is truly enjoyable - bearing in mind the age it was made. Modern film-makers have the advantage of high technology to enhance even the most mundane of movies. This film was made honestly, with old fashioned methods and 'in the available light'. It is a Classic, in the age of Classics.

It deserves being seen.

Movie Review: "So, you thought she would make a good mother for MY children?"
Summary: 5 Stars

On man; two wives! Trouble!

Cary Grant is hilarious as Nicholas Arden, a single man raising his two kids after his wife supposedly drowned seven years before. He finally declares her legally dead and marries his fiance, Bianca. And wouldn't you know it! - That same day his wife, Ellen (Irene Dunne), shows up after being rescued by a Portuguese ship. Everything gets comedic as he tries to explain the ordeal to his bride (Don't confuse his "bride" with his "wife")and when he discovers that Ellen spent those seven years on the desert island with Stephen (Randolph Scott).

Movie Review: Cary Grant and Irene Dunn at their very best!
Summary: 5 Stars

Even in 2009, this movie is one of the funniest, wittiest movies ever. The story is joyful and full of life, and the casting was perfect. Even the children in this comedy have very clever parts and are not pushed aside with the 'grown-ups' antics. My favorite scene is when Mr. Grant is imagining Randolph Scott's "Adam" twirling around on a trapeze, taunting Mr. Grant with all sorts of images of Adam and his wife on the island. Priceless! You will not be disappointed, especially if you love Cary Grant and the ever saucy Irene Dunn.

Movie Review: My Favorite Wife
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a forerunner to the Doris Day/James Garner "Move Over Darling" and many lines were the same in this film. The ending, especially, and some of the other scenes in this movie are much more believable. It has a wonderful cast and the writers did such a good job that they wrote it again for Doris Day. I own both movies, and this is definitely staying in my collection.

Movie Review: Still a Great Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

I saw this movie when I was younger and I consider it one of my favorite movies of all time still. I looked for this movie for a very long time, and I was so glad to see it for sell again. I watched it and I still love the slight classic comedy and love story plot. I am an "80"'s child and I love classic movies like this one. I rank it as one of the best movies of all time.
