Movie Reviews of Music From Another RoomMovie Review: Formulaic "Music" hits all right notes with excellent ensemble cast. Summary: 5 Stars
MUSIC FROM ANOTHER ROOM is definitely not just another romantic comedy. Yes, much of this screenplay is formulaic where you will know what is going to happen next, but so what-it works, and most effectively. From the very moment that young Danny is asked to reach in Brenda Blethyn's womb to untangle the umbilical chord wrapped around her birthing-baby's neck, we enter the unusual world of passion, fate and destiny. Forward around twenty years and Danny (a very funny and appealing Jude Law) is destined by fate to meet the baby he helped deliver and has vowed to marry.
What puts this rom-com above many others is the EXCEPTIONAL ensemble cast of actors that understand their parts and act them to the hilt.In fact, other than Gretchen Mol's character Anna, the baby grown up, who's character is overly responsible and self-deprived of passion ( therefore rightly not so animated) the rest of the cast, Brenda Blethyn, Jennifer Tilly,Jane Adams, Jeremy Piven, and ESPECIALLY Martha Plimpton and Vince Laresca are comedically quite effective in saving this film from becoming ordinary.
Yes, this film is formulaic, but think about it-formulas are time tested and true-that's why they work. MUSIC FROM ANOTHER ROOM just does it a bit better than most hitting all the right notes.
Movie Review: This is one of those movies that gives you a great feeling Summary: 5 Stars
I saw this movie when it came out at the cinema's about 5 years ago I think and I remember getting out of the cinema's and my friend and I just kept on walking thinking what are we doing, where are we going. The fact is we didn't care . It gave me a sense of freedom and spontanueity. I loved it so much that as soon as I thought it would be out on Video I searched for it everywhere only to find one copy in this cheap shop where I bought it for $5 and yet I can not find in one DVD in Australia. This website is the first time I have seen any existance of Music From Another Room on DVD. I think it is the most beautiful, powerful and hopeful movie I have ever seen. It's our dreams and hopes of true love and romance. I idea of how powerful love can be and that we all would do anything for love(to find the right person). It just shows every aspect of love and how different people react to it. The fear and lust and sense people get when love if around. I don't want to say anymore and give it away but it is one of my most favourite movies that a lot of people have not heard of and everyone can see. Everyone needs to experience the Music From Another Room and just the title explains love in itself
thanks for the experience
Movie Review: Music From Another Room sucks you in... Summary: 5 Stars
I had never seen this movie until 2 months ago. It's now my favorite film. It sucks you in. It's one of those movies that you just don't want to end, and once it does you watch it again and again. I rented it for 2 days and watched it 5 times. It's about finding some one who is right for you, even if that means doing something that people might not expect from you. It's about making choices: go the normal route or believe in something more and take a chance. Take a leap and find out what's really out there. That's the decision Anna Swan must make. Some of the scenes are very very cheesy, but they can be over looked because once the film is over it's simply too good to be cheesy. The characters grow and change and in the end... You'll have to watch to find out. But take a chance on this movie. You'll be happy you did.
Movie Review: Delightful Summary: 5 Stars
"Music From Another Room" is a delightful little romantic comedy, partly due to the good acting (including that of a young Jude Law and a young Gretchen Mol) and partly due to the heartwarming story. It is, in essence, the perfect "date movie," one that should be watched under a warm blanket with a big bowl of popcorn and some candles. And as is the case with any movie like this, the actual quality of the film takes a backseat to the company you're watching it with. But luckily, "Music From Another Room" is also capable of standing on its own as a clever feel-good piece of cinematic candy.
Movie Review: Hey, Jude!! Summary: 5 Stars
I fell in love with Jude Law in "The Talented Mr. Ripley," but in this movie, "Music From Another Room," he plays a character who is actually worthy of my affection!! Aside from the butterflies for Jude, this is a laugh-out-loud AND cry movie! It has character depth: I love the excentric, drama-queen mother; the hispanic, strong-but-insecure boyfriend; the blind and so-inSIGHTful sister; and you'll all recognize from TV and other movies - the cheating husband character - Jeremy Piven (yum-yum)!! I only buy movies on DVD format that I already love. I bought this one!!!
