Movie Review: Charming and relaxed

This is one of my favorite movies. James Garner and Sally Field are just great, the writing is very good (Garner's lines are wonderfully written and delivered), the pacing is relaxed but not slow, and the theme music by Carole King is as good as you'd expect (see if you can spot King in a cameo). What makes it all work, however, is the excellent supporting cast. Everyone is a fully realized individual, the town feels like a real community, and there's not a bad actor in the bunch. If you want a love story that's about love and not hormones, buy this DVD. You'll be glad you did.Movie Review: So Utterly Charming

This film is practically impossible to not like. It has likeable but three dimensional characters. James Garner is at his best, earning his only Best Actor Academy Award nomination. Sally Field is almost his equal. All in all this is a wonderful concoction of romance, wooing, charm and your normal run of the mill slice of life. It is really enjoyable and undemanding. One feels good about life after viewing this one. I can not begin to say how much I loved this movie. I saw it years ago and when I saw it on Amazon I knew I had to have it for my own. It is funny, it is relatable, (especially for women making it on there own)it was touching beyond words and has two of the best characters to pull it together. Its the kind of movie that the time flys and you wish it wasn't over, leaving you with a smile.
I can not imagine anyone who sees this not to fall in love with it. It is James Garner and Sally Fields at their very best.

This film dates back to 1985, and of my over 500 DVD collection I have placed it in my top 10.
That alone says a lot about how I feel about this film. Sally Field and James Garner are at there vary best hear. It's a shame that Hollywood has not seen fit to put them together more often.
This film is real life. This could be for real. Being an Arizona resident myself , and an old, used to be horseman, I can relate to this story line. It's a romance story at its best. For all ages.

Murphy's Romance
I saw this movie years back when it first came out. I loved it then and still do. It's one of those movies that stands the test of time. Sally Fields and James Garner make an unlikely but powerhouse romantic couple. You laugh and maybe even shed a few tears, but you're left with a 'feel-good' feeling long after watching. I would highly recommend it.
