Movie Reviews of Murphy's Romance

Movie Review: Best romantic movie ever
Summary: 5 Stars

If you never cared for Sally Field, you will love her in this movie. If you remember James Garner from Rockford Files or other things, you will love him for this role. Both were wonderful on the screen together, bringing old fashioned romance to a new height and enthusiasm.

This movie is funny, sweet, tender and restful. No matter what your age, this movie will touch your heart in many ways from the old geezer in love with a young woman "for the last time", to her, in love finally "for the first time" to someone who really cares for her.

Her X husband is in the mix making it more spicy and interesting but never vulgar. Their son is a normal boy raised by a single mom with all its ups and downs.

This is a timeless movie. It will last.

Movie Review: Finding Love Where You Wouldn't Expect
Summary: 5 Stars

Emma is a single mother who moves into a small town in Arizona. What I admire most about this character played by Sally Field is her perseverance when things aren't going right - something we all have to have from time to time. She struggles with getting over her ex-husband who keeps popping back into the picture, re-establishing herself in a new town, kick-starting her business and learning to love in a deeper, more meaningful way. She finds love where she wouldn't expect it, and with someone she wouldn't have imagined. Set in an endearing small town, this story, simple and yet interesting, peppered with humor and defining moments, is sure to touch your heart. This movie always leaves me with a good feeling.

Movie Review: A Wonderful Movie - One of Garner's Best
Summary: 5 Stars

Sally Field And James Garner star in this May-December romantic comedy. It's one of the funniest movies of all time, and has James Garner at his finest. He definitely makes the movie. Murphy's a widower, doesn't figure he can find another woman to love. Emma has been married to a good-time boy who was never there for her, or her son, unless he needed something. I love the age play in this movie. Emma's son (played by a young Corey Haim) gets a ride in Murphy's car and things he's driving too flow, then they pick up a man that is even older than Murphy and he wants out because he's driving too fast. The movie is full of those kinds of moments that just make you smile because it's funny that it is so true.

Movie Review: One in a Million
Summary: 5 Stars

Sally Fields hits a homerun in this story of a divorcee' moving to a ranch to start a buisness training horses, in a small town to try and make a home for herself and her son. The trials that she has to face include: no money and her business not starting out to well, her ex-husband showing up - out of money and ready to cause trouble - and the owner of the drugstore in town becoming more that just a friend. Fields makes the character of Emma come alive in a way that is relatable to any woman who has been hit hard and then made themselves get up and start all over again. This is the perfect love story that travels through the different generations and always rises to the top. A must see.

Movie Review: Murphy's Romance
Summary: 5 Stars

Emma is a divorced woman with a teen aged boy who moves into a small town and tries to make a go of a horse ranch. Murphey is the town druggist who steers business her way. Things are going along predictably until her ex husband shows up, needing a place to stay. The three of them form an intricate circle, Emma's son liking Murphey, but desperately wanting his father back. James Garner and Sally Field make an appealing couple involved in a May-December romance. If you like a movie with a touch of romance, humor, and good performances by the lead actors, this is a movie you should add to you DVD collection.
