Movie Reviews of Muppets From SpaceMovie Review: Fun For Whole Family Summary: 4 Stars
Yet another Muppet movie which holds up to repeated viewings by the whole family. The songs in this one aren't my favorite but overall it really entertains.
Movie Review: Gonzo Finally Finds Where He Comes From Summary: 3 Stars
Muppets From Space is a fun movie for kids and adults alike, although it does lean more towards the kiddies. The makers of this new Muppet film put in a lot of the nostalgia of the amazing Muppet movies of the seventies and early eighties. So Muppets From Space has that "seventies" feel and vibe throughout, which adult fans like me of The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper and The Muppets Take Manhattan will appreciate. While lacking orginal songs, the soundtrack is also all seventies and early eighties like "She's a Brick House" and "Celebrate."
The story is kind of Gonzo meets X-Files. Gonzo is receiving strange messages from his breakfast cereal. His housemates Rizzo the Rat and Pepe the King Prawn are less than sympathetic. Even Kermit seems to think his friend has gone off the deep end. Meanwhile, Miss Piggy is trying hard to land a news anchor job at a local TV station. Will the alien craze be her ticket to the big time? One person that does believe Gonzo is the diabolical head of a secret government agency in charge of seeking out life in outer space. When Gonzo goes to them for help, he finds himself in big trouble.
Muppets From Space does not equal the great films of the 80's. It doesn't have that magic, although it has its moments. Nevertheless, an enjoyable film worthy of Jim Henson's beloved creations.
Movie Review: Somewhat Fills that Empty Muppet Void Summary: 3 Stars
As a movie, Muppets From Space is good, entertaining, family fun for the young at heart. As a muppet movie, it's definitely low on the list - but far, FAR above anything they've done like "Kermit's Swamp Years." I suffered through that one, while I actually enjoyed MFS. Like many have said it lacks the original muppet songs, but it has a fantastic opening sequence and features a lot of the less common muppets, like Clifford from "The Jim Henson Hour," and many more. If you're a die-hard muppet fan, it's still a must have.
Movie Review: Muppets go Modern Summary: 3 Stars
Although not as good as the classic muppet movies, this movie still is enjoyable. Brain Henson has taken his father's muppets into the modern day-with space ships, roommates and popular music. In DVD the quality can't be beat! The story is fun and original and focuses on the ever allusive orgin of our favorite weird muppet, Gonzo. It's great for a family movie night and has laughs for everyone in the family!
Movie Review: a lot of fun but WHY FULLSCREEN??? Summary: 3 Stars
The story is cute and has some pretty good SFX too. But what idiot is still chopping widescreen movies down to fullscreen??!
