Movie Reviews of Muppets From Space

Movie Review: "Auntie Em! Auntie Em! It's a twister!!!"
Summary: 4 Stars

The Muppets, in their long span of existence, have gone from making movies about Muppets, novel adaptations with Muppets. Now, the Muppets seem perfectly co-existent with the world, while Gonzo alone feels truly out of place.

The story goes as such: Gonzo feels left out, even when his comrades are already the motley crew, so he searches for answers. Then, through numerous signals varying from his breakfast cereal to the cosmic fish he starts getting contact from space, but no one believes him. Thus, Gonzo, and inevitably all, are taken for many tumultuous turns in understanding the origins of Gonzo, er, whatever.

Now this is not one of the finer moppets movies, but this one has a more modern feel, and I believe Director Tim Hill had that kind of approach. With no real singing on their parts, a surprise since that was a forte of theirs, the soundtrack is replaced by funk/disco, which is amusingly woven in.

In addition, many old characters take a back seat, while some new ones, or lesser-known ones, take the charge. Overall, this film was definitely funny, and a must for Muppet lovers, but remember that this is a bit of a new direction, and go with the flow.

Movie Review: Fun for any age group
Summary: 4 Stars

While in some ways, the Muppets franchise has gone downhill since the untimely passing of the great Jim Henson, Muppets From Space is a truly enjoyable film. I've always been of the opinion that a character as unique and entertaining as Gonzo should have more screen time. The film centers around Gonzo and his search for his identity. Along the way, Miss Piggy gets a job at a local television station (though her position isn't as glamorous as she might like), Rizzo does time as a lab rat, and we gain insight into the ongoing experiments of Muppet Labs (with hilarious results). Throw in a very funny cameo by a new character (Dr. Van Neuter) and a sublime performance by Jeffrey Tambor, and Muppets from Space is a movie that everyone is sure to enjoy, whether you are a fan of the Muppets from decades ago, or a child who has never seen the show or any of the classic movies.

Movie Review: MUPPETMANIA RETURNS!
Summary: 4 Stars

This movie is not as funny as the muppets last two offerings ofTreasure Island and A Chrismas Carol the main reason being the lack ofsongs which are often so great remember "We Got Cabin Fever" from Treasure Island. However, this is an original story written especially for the muppets and Gonzo in particular. Its great to see the little guy get a starring role at last and he does it with an oscar winning performance. The film is slightly more serious than previous muppet films, not to say that the film isn't crazy beacuase it is. It's just that there is a serious element underlying the madness. The film does still offer classic muppet moments, the first fifteen minutes are especially fun. And is overall a great movie that will appeal to both young and old and will leave a smile on your face.

Movie Review: im still a kid at heart
Summary: 4 Stars

what can i say about the muppets?? i grew up with these wonderful creatures, from the movies to the muppet babies then to the show that bombed on network tv...and i never saw muppet treasure island cause i thought it was just the stupid muppets...well im a firefighter with no kids and i loved this movie....it was funny in all aspects from the adult comedic stand point, the hippies that gave bunsin and beeker a ride, to the crazy antics of pepe...where did they get this guy and why hasnt he been around longer, "i am going to slap you....slap you like a bad, bad donkey...ok" that is just the best...well it may not be the best muppet movie but it did touch the heart of this long forgotten fan..

Movie Review: An alien?
Summary: 4 Stars

I rally did like this move, I love the Muppets but, I was very surprised that they said Gonzo is an alien. Only because I remember the Jim Henson movie, "The Great Santa Claus Switch" (1970, I was born until '82 but have still seen this movie). This is the FIRST time Gonzo was ever featured. Anyway, in that movie they say he is a Frackel (no not Fraggle) he was a bit of an outsider to the Frackles because he did not have the trademark large teeth, and lived in a cigar box. It's said that Jim Henson liked the little outsider so much he added him as a permanent cast.
So..what is Gonzo....
