Movie Reviews of Mrs. MiniverMovie Review: 1 of the best WWII movies made! Summary: 5 Stars
Greer Garson is EXCELLENT in this WWII movie made in England. The trials of having a husband & son serving in the war, while at home having to venture to the bomb shelter with her 2 youngest children. The fears of the children are voiced while the fears of the parents are visible on their faces. This movie touches on faith, seeing the enemy as a person when a hungry German soldier slips into the back door, and the fears of life in the midst of the war. Very few movies encapsulates views from several different characters the way MRS. MINIVER does. You will fall in love with this movie, as I do, each time that you watch it.
Movie Review: Amazing Miniver Summary: 5 Stars
Wow...I just saw this movie for the first time on TCM. I am 18 and I don't think I have ever seen a movie that I was so emotionally involved in. This movie has it all. It is a movie about war, but it doesn't take you to the battlefields. I felt that I was scuttling to the shelter when the air raid sirens went off.
Greer Garson was born to play this role. She is the typical mother who has to hold the family together during war time. An almost impossible job but many women had to fulfill this role in the 1940s.
A must see movie....again, WOW!!
Movie Review: Wonderful Heartfelt Story Summary: 5 Stars
5 STARS!!! TWO THUMBS WAAAAAAY UP!!! I was not disappointed at all. I watched this movie twice in one day. This movie stands the test of time and will be watched for years to come. It was heartfelt, funny (especially little Toby), sad and some scenes had you on the edge of your seat, it also taught lessons on how important it is to love your family, appreciate them, be thankful for what you have even it's not the biggest house or the fanciest cars, because you never know what may happen today or the next day.
Movie Review: "Mrs. Miniver", A WWII Collectible Summary: 5 Stars
Beside Greer Garson being one of my all-time favorites, "Mrs. Miniver" is a film which is a MUST HAVE in the collection of anyone who enjoys WWII Movies. The movie offers a "back home" picture of life in war-torn England and how the non-soldier soldiers of England fought their wars on the home-front. It is a movie which should be archived for posterity and produced in DVD so that youngsters and oldsters, alike, can see that people, then and now, will always pay the necessary price to be free.
Movie Review: three hankies Summary: 5 Stars
Wow, what a film. If the scene showing the terrorized children enduring a night of bombing in an air raid shelter doesn't shake you up, then you must be made of stone.
Sure, it's over-the-top Hollywood! And the Miniver family is hardly "middle class" as described. These people had a pretty luxury-filled life. And the first half hour is incredibly slow.
But the final hour will have you on the edge of your seat.
A deserving winner of the Oscar for Best Picture 1942.
