Movie Review: The little things....
Summary: 3 Stars
My experience with and enjoyment of opera is relatively recent and thus minimal as is my knowledge of the technical aspects of music or singing. So I don't have any basis to comment on those aspects. However I have been enjoying all kinds of music for some time now and keep adding new forms, opera being the latest. For what it's worth, watching this DVD recently, I noticed a few things which made me wonder if these happened often. Here are a couple of examples: Did anyone else get the strangeness of Papageno, upon discovering Battle (Pamina) lying there in captivity, singing the line "Fair maiden, young and delicate, far whiter than snow"? And is it just my perception the she (Battle) often seems to keep her eyes fixed at the front-center part of the stage floor as if she is constantly reading her lines off a monitor? I haven't noticed other singers in other opera performances doing this.
PS I couldn't post this "review" without giving the DVD a star rating, so I opted for the middle.
