Movie Review: A Wonderful meal for the mind
Summary: 5 Stars
What a wonderful two hour meal for the mind, the soul and the senses. The chef is deliciously portrayed as a compulsive perfectionist, loathe to let anyone into her kitchen (figurtively and literally). The cinematography is soft and warm aside from the cool and anxious scenes in the cooler. The movie touches ones soul through the gradual awakenings of the central characters....All great but also the music... can't wait for the movie score to be released on CD. An experience to savor. Maybe 5 stars is too much but not an iota less than 4 stars.Movie Review: simply fantastic! never thought german movie so good!

wonderfully scripted, acted, high standard rare movie gem. there's only one scene fell short: how could the new guy leave earlier than the chef and others except the pregnant employee? i am in the restaurant business, never saw any employee could dress up to call for the night while others are still doing the daily final cleaning works. this is one of the best movies that didn't draw my tears but still deeply touched and moved by the wonderful story and the performance of these characters.Movie Review: Charming

This story of Martha and her kitchen are a great edition to anyone's film collection. The addition of her deceased sisters child rocks Martha's world in many ways. I do not think enough of the reviews focus on this fragile relationship. Lina and Martha's relationship mirrors the relationship with the talented Italian chef. Both relationships are new and frightening to the lead. This movie has charmed me and captured me. I m sure it will capture every person who see's it.

I consider this DVD a comedy bordering on a drama. The language is German with English sub titles. The cast is exceptional. Sometimes you laugh when you could just a easily cry. Martha is a German time bomb that sometimes goes off. Only the Italian temperemnt eventually snuffs the fuse before dangerous consequences cannot be reversed.
Solidarity among cowokers is beautiful to witness. You'll want to see this movie more than once so add it to your library.

I like the story, I like the acting, and I like the joy with which
Martha creates her masterpieces in the kitchen.
There are no crimes, no car races, no obscenities, and no millionaires
in this film; so what is it about?
Without revealing a single bit of the plot, let's just say
the film is about emotional intelligence.
