Movie Reviews of Modern Problems

Movie Review: Toxic avenger, Chevy Chase style
Summary: 5 Stars

Max Fielder (Chevy Chase) has modern problems. Aside from being an overworked air traffic controller. He seems to have been thrown over by his sweetie (Patti D'ArbanVille). Sort of reconciliation is supposed to take place at a beach house with people that have strange personalities. This includes Mark (Dabney Coleman) who gets to play an obnoxious character as in most of his movies.

He is doomed until a mishap or close encounter with radioactive waist transforms him into a telekinetic terror. Will he be able to get his sweetie back? Be sure to pay attention to the restaurant scene. You will never be able to eat out again with out thinking of it.

Movie Review: Best Chevy Chase Film
Summary: 5 Stars

This is not a gag-a-minute film. Chevy is not the drugged out cynical playboy in this. Its a paranormal romantic comedy sorta like a lower-budget spin-off of "Ghostbusters". Because the film has a "wacky" comedy element, people think this is supposed to be a more wild and fun movie. The pacing is slower, the acting is better (especially Chase, Coleman and Carter) and the concept is more out there. This film has more in common with Jerry Lewis or old slapstick than "Caddyshack" or "Zapped!". Serious comedy buffs need to own this! Brilliant physical comedy and a few 80s one-liners to boot. I wish Chase was given deeper characters like this.

Movie Review: I've been waiting for this.....!
Summary: 5 Stars

What's up with some of these poor reviews? You people suck. Dabney Coleman's peformance, alone, puts Modern Problems over the top.

Can you really deny lines like..?:

"You see...what you need to realize is..she's a manipulatin' b!tch.."

[or]

"Don't look at me like I'm a freak..! I'm not a freak! He's the freak! I'm a g*ddamned goodlookin' man!"

...exploding ballet pants, extreme nosebleeds..and Nell Carter! What's not to love?

Now, if they'll just release a soundtrack featuring that killer TUBES song, I'll be happy. :)

Movie Review: Love me or hate me - a rare '80's classic - I love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an awesomely funny movie, with a twist. It is one of the few rare movies I consider a personal favourite. Warning, though, it is clever adult entertainment, and some of you will simply not get it. It is spew-your-popcorn-over-the-chump-in-front-of-you funny, but also subtly deep, real, dark and very, very clever. I tip my hat to Mr. Sinister's concise summary, "A little slice of Regan-era fatalism". If you crave funny, clever and repeatable viewing that genuinely thoughful, this is a rare gem. A comedy onion!

Movie Review: Patti D'Arbanville was my first love!!!!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

What can I say. This movie is pretty funny and actually one of Chevy's funnier movies. The part that stood out the most, however was the Chevy and Patti D'Arbanville seen in the bedroom. That has to be the best fake orgasim seen EVER, no offense to When Harry met Sally. That alone makes this a must buy for any young man who was going through highschool in the late 80's. What can I say, the girl can act.
