Movie Reviews of Miracle on 34th Street

Movie Review: Every bit as good as the original in my opinion
Summary: 5 Stars

I love that this remake didn't sell out very much, and put in too much modern stuff. It is very successful in keeping a "traditional" feel, with only a few exceptions. Mara Wilson is absolutely delightful and classic in her performance, and I really like Elizabeth Perkins' reproduction of the original role. And Dylan McDermott, whom I typically find very flat and dull, is sweet and charming as the sincere bachelor attorney with an eye for Perkins.

Richard Attenborough is amazing as Santa, at least as good as the formidable original. The scene in the original featuring Santa visiting with the Dutch war refugee girl is replaced in this remake with Santa visiting with a little deaf girl. The scene in the original is about as sweet as any scene in any movie ever, and the remake is even sweeter! The deaf girl's face, when Santa talks to her in sign language, is absolutely worth the price of this DVD.

The only real weakness for me was the John DeLancie and Jane Leeves part of the movie, as two "evil" agents for the "enemy" department store (where all the upper management wears all black). They reminded me of Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern from "Home Alone" -- sort of bumbling bad guys in a bad cartoon sort of way.

So all in all, I really think that this version is as good or better than the original, which is simply too dated in a few respects for me to be able to enjoy unconditionally. I think both of them are definitely worth owning.

Movie Review: The Classic to end all Classics
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is without a doubt my favorite christmas movie of all time. Richard Attenbourogh(forgive my spelling)remains one of my favorite actors of all time. He was the perfect choice to portry the greatness that is Santa Clause. The actor lineup is great, the original of this movie was good, but it pales in comparison to this one. The plot is amazing, and this film just tugs at your heart, and maybe even will spark a few tears. As you see the one of the most beloved figures in history on a trial, which literally turns into a DOES SANTA CLAUSE EXIST trial. Watch as New York city and the World come together to do what Chris Cringle nows so well, how to help others. This is a great film, and one of my favorites of all time. Does Santa exist, and the films trial ending is the greatest part of all, I BELIEVE, DO YOU.

Movie Review: Miracle does it again!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this movie - the old version, as well as the new. I think I prefer the court scene in the old one just a bit better. I like the older movies explanation as to why Kris is THE real Santa Claus. But both little girls, the mom and boyfriend, as well as the Santa, are believable and fun characters - in the old and newer version. If you haven't seen this movie yet, you are in for a Christmas treat!

Movie Review: My Favorite Christmas Movie! EVER!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this movie the day it came out on VHS, and my family has watched it every year before Christmas. We also watch the original film for old times sake, but Mara Wilson, the little girl, melts my heart with her performance! The actors are incredible, and my Christmas would not be complete without being able to see this movie! This version of the story stays very well with the original, but reserves just enough updating to make it believable! You will NOT be disapointed with this movie!

Movie Review: Miracle indeed
Summary: 5 Stars

Very satisfied with my purchase. It's only a dvd, but it was shipped in time before christmas even though I ordered it late. It was refreshing to order something online & it arrive in a timely manner and without defects. My daughter enjoyed the movie thoroughly. It dealt with the delicate issue of Santa Claus being real or not and allowed me to sit back, enjoy the movie & let my daughter decide for herself.
