Movie Review: Taut, suspenseful movie
Summary: 4 Stars
I just watched this again for the first time since it came out and it still gripped me.
The first 30 minutes make you think you're watching a love story. Then, through a series of unfortunate and unforeseen events, the protagonist misses his date and ends up in front of a payphone at 4:00 AM trying to get in touch with his date when the phone suddenly rings. He answers it...
... and all Hell breaks loose. This movie will keep your gut clemched and you're mind racing, trying to guess whether it's for real or just a horrible misunderstanding right up to the last minute of the film.
Was it a joke phone call or the real thing?
Is Landa insane or is she for real?
I removed one star because of the ending. The film steamrolls from the answered call forward and then slams you into the brickwall of an ending rather than go around it. Some people like that type of ending. Done right, I do too. Not this one.
Still, one very frightening movie. Highly recommended.
Movie Review: MIRACLE MILE A HIDDEN GEM

I rented this movie just after it's theater release. It is a what if senario played out, with a pre- E.R. Anthony Edwards at the center piece. Can a phone call change your life? Can time stand still- do you let time go by or do you fight for every minute that you have left? In a post 9-11 world, this movie seems even more thought provoking.
This movie is well acted with a decent script, a story that doesn't seem lifted from the block buster format, then blended together. It is refreshing to see a different type of story line.
Seeing todays' headlines- nuclear development in Iraq, oil dispute between China and Vietnam, the threat of terrorism, makes this movie seem like a crystal ball to one possible outcome in the future. FUTURE SHOCK, A GRIM STORY THAT HOPEFULLY REMAINS JUST THAT, A STORY. If you were provoked by the Best Picture of the Year in CRASH, getting this movie may also make you think, explore emotion, jolt your senses, which a good movie, like Miracle Mile, provides.
Movie Review: The Mircale Mile bus has left the City

Sure I like happy endings, but let's face if I was living in L.A. and a nuclear missile was going to go off in an hour I doubt I could expect a happy ending. This closely examines the lifes of everyone that is touched by Anthony Edwards character Harry. The news that the missiles are hot and will be inbound just over an hour sets almost everyone into a panic to just leave or grab the one they care about most and bolt. After Harry just met the girl he is sure he wants to spend the rest of his life with, Mare Winningham as Julie, he is out of time. Who would have guessed that he would get a phone call while trying to get in touch with her to apologize for missing their next date. Considering what she said she would do on their third date I doubt Harry would have missed it short of an earthquake. It is rather an ironic ending when you consider where they first met. All-in-all not a bad end of the world movie. I recommend it as a rental before buying.Movie Review: short and sweet

The first time i watched this years ago i liked it but it reallt didnt fit the time and period of the country. looking at it now it once again has applicable material to the present day the love story is a little far fetched but aside from that Anthony Edwards (BRAVO BRAVO). I gain more and more respect for your screen presence. He brings a certain element the screen big or small. this is a great little adventure and fun ride with the not so normal ending if you haven't seen it get it watch it keep it and i promise you wint be dissappointed. I wont give too much away just dont think cold war think wow this could actually apply to todays events and let it have a impact on you even if your a extreme left liberal you can get something out of it and learn!!! This story is an interesting perspective on what people's reactions might be if they were to find out in advance that the bombs were dropping. Moral of the story is if the time comes, 'get the hell out of Dodge' and don't waste precious time doing it either or you may find it to be an excercise in
