Movie Review: A apocalyptic classic
Summary: 5 Stars
What do you get when you want to do an apocalyptic classic on a teeny budget and you are limited to locations adjoining Wilshire Blvd in near West LA?
You get Steve De Jarnatt's "The Miracle Mile".
De Jarnatt does a great job here with very few resources. Forget that people are acting in a most bizarre manner, often in ways that defeat their best interests. Don't worry about the increasingly cartoonish events. Just maintain your credulity, open your eyes and ears, and let DeJarnatt take you on a hell of a ride. Tangerine Dream will do their best to help your heart keep pumping along the way.
The way I see it the closest cinematic escapade to "The Miracle Mile" is Hitchcock's "North by Northwest" only the MacGuffin in the former is a nuclear attack. Presented in close to real time--the rotating clock in front of Johnnie's keeps things on schedule--the film builds to a climax which you'll likely never forget.

The miracle mile is one of those films that deserves a
place in your permanent collection. Now that the events
of 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina are part of the common
American Experience, I think this movie's realistic approach to
what happens when it is time to bug out has finally been
recognized and vindicated.
Watch and take notes. When it is time to go, you will want
to have a plan for all of your loved ones, a destination and be
the first to be on your way. I will leave it to the gentle reader to verify what happened to those who stayed behind or
got stranded without food or water in the traffic jams and when
gas sells out in hours.
Watch the movie for its entertainment value. Then get up
and make a plan.
Movie Review: Great Thriller

I was astounded to find this on Amazon. I saw it in the early nineties on HBO. I have not seen it since. I was fortunate that I watched it from the beginning one night without knowing anything at all about it, and it was a shocker and a roller coaster ride that kept me on the edge of my seat. Mere Whittingham is beautiful in this. I was thinking of calling HBO and asking them why they never show it any more, but now I do not have to.As many reviewers have stated, it starts out as a love story, so if you have friends and relatives who do not know what it is about, do not tell them and do not let them see the box. Just let them enjoy the surprise of it. You will be laughing to yourself as they suddenly see the plot twists and get caught up in it. Some love story.
Movie Review: The one real GREAT DVD that I ever had to give 5 Stars
Yes that right! This is a very powerfully sad and engaging movie. Even after the first time I saw it on HBO in early 90's, this movie completely fails to lose its punch and depravity. All I can say is that after I viewed this with my wife, (we viewed it, casually enjoying the setup process), and when the heat got turned up, we didn't say another word till the very very end. From the not quite over the top, but truly believable acting of Anthony Edwards to the quiet feminity and perky persona of Mare Whittingham's character all the way to the very end with the musical score of Tangerine Dream. This movie will haunt you for all the wrong reasons. It now belongs to someone else.Movie Review: A GREAT ANTI NUCLEAR WAR FILM!!

one of the last great anti global destruction films of the 80's. a deep massage for tolerance and redemption. what would you do if the humanity only have five hours to live or escape from nuclear missiles are already heading on your way?...one f the most nihilistic/ anarchist films of the past 15 years.......the only bad thing about it is that the dialoge is really cheesy and corny.......but over that.....everything is very nervewrecking.........and with one of the most devastating endings ever recorded on an american film.....the end of the world is here and evolution has to pay it's price! get this movie now!
