Movie Reviews of Ministry - Tapes of WrathMovie Review: one of the best music DVDs out there! Summary: 4 Stars
all I have to say is my favourite videos are "stigmata" and "flashback". the funniest video has to be the cover of "do ya think I'm sexy". it's just great. the cheesiest has to be "crackin' up". even "over the shoulder" wasn't that cheesy. but anyways, the audio is in 2channel stereo... and the videos are the video versions of the songs... not exactly the originals--which is what makes it even better. unfortunately the video for "jesus built my hotrod" is edited... they reversed the "let's hit the f**kin' road" sample from the redline/whiteline version. but all in all... if you want to see your favourite ministry music videos, pick this one up! I like 8 of 14 of the videos. but I think they should have included the entire "in case you didn't feel like showing up" live concert just to get a better rating. or... if there are any LARD videos out there... they could also include the video for there new song from the "A.I." soundtrack. =) since my Ramms+ein Live Aus Berlin DVD doesn't work, I'd have to say this is my favourite music DVD. track listing: (1)over the shoulder (2)stigmata (3)flashback (4)burning inside (5)the land of rape and honey (live from in case you didn't feel like showing up) (6)jesus built my hotrod (7)n.w.o. (8)just one fix (9)lay lady lay (10)reload (11)bad blood (12)crackin' up (13)do ya think i'm sexy (14)credits
Movie Review: Despite no extras, this is a must own for Ministry fans Summary: 4 Stars
Featuring every music video from Ministry up until their last album with Warner Bros. (1999's "Dark Side of the Spoon"), Tapes of Wrath is a must have for any and every Ministry fan. The only downside is that there are absolutely no extras whatsoever, which isn't surprising considering this was more than likely a quick cash in attempt by Warner Bros. before subsequently dumping the band from the label. Despite that, all the videos one would expect, such as "Stigmata", "Burning Inside", "Jesus Built My Hot Rod", "N.W.O.", "Just One Fix", and "Reload" are here, as well as the videos for "Crackin' Up" and "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" from the Ministry side project the Revolting Cocks. All in all, even though there is no extra material to be found on this DVD, Tapes of Wrath is still a must own for Ministry fans one and all.
Movie Review: Ok, it's not the best stuff it could be.. Summary: 4 Stars
When one reviews this DVD then one has to first remember that we are talking about Ministry, quite possibly the best and most original band in the world right now. But, the material you'll find here is definately lacking in regard to what's....missing (...)...True, classics like "psalm 69" or "NWO" are on it but i am of the opinion that the best songs are on Ministry's "Filthpig" and "Dark side of the spoon" and sadly you will only find 2 f those songs here. There is also no interview material at all, no backstage material, well, nothing of that sort. Still this is a Ministry DVD and as such it is a MUST (esp. when one considers the [stuff] out there) and thus it gets a 4 from me. Could it be way-way better? Yes it could. Should you still have it if you appreciate good music and relevant bands? Yes you should.
Movie Review: a bunch of kick ass Ministry vids Summary: 4 Stars
This DVD has 11 Ministry videos and 2 Revolting Cocks videos (Al Jougensen side project). All the videos are pretty good, with the best being from Ministry's peak period of the albums Land of Rape and Honey, A Mind is a Terrible Thing To Taste, and Psalm 69. A couple of the videos are from the live tape "In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up" which I wish the whole thing was available on DVD so I could upgrade my VHS copy. All in all, for a Ministry fan these are some great vids. DVD is lacking in any sort of extras however. Put it in and press Play!
Movie Review: Close but not quite... Summary: 4 Stars
A great starter collection of Ministry videos.. I only wish "Revenge" appeared on the DVD along with something to show for "Work For Love". Otherwise this disc has all the bases covered! As for people complaining about EXTRAS, all I really want is the music videos, not hearing Al talk about how much stuff he shot up throughout his career. Keep it simple and that they do, no stupid menus and other crud.
