Movie Reviews of Mimic 2

Movie Review: Queen of the B's
Summary: 2 Stars

I had the opportunity to watch Mimic and Mimic 2 back-to-back. This helped immensely. In my opinion, a sequel should add to, or enhance the story of the original, but should also stand alone, so that people who haven't seen the first can still enjoy it. Mimic 2 does neither. Apparently the dvd contains a cut scene that explains a lot. Why would the moviemakers feel that an explanation scene in a sci-fi thriller is expendable?? The leading lady does well and pulls us through this dreary little movie. Seeing Remi in the first movie helped as she is completely unrecognizable as the very same character. My favorite aspect of this movie was the fact that Remi, as the proposed "queen" was the ONLY female character in the entire film - the school children, Feds, hospital staff were all male. That's as clever as this film gets. The ending was a complete let down. I saw the last line coming a mile away, since it was set up earlier. Also, not to spoil anything, a dangerous element introduced toward the end is completely ignored. I don't expect sequel to be great ... "Creepshow 3" is without a doubt the worst piece of trash I've ever seen ... but there's no reason that a movie can't make sense!

Movie Review: mimic 2
Summary: 2 Stars

mimic 2 is a fast paced sequel, it does not explain itself well but considering many other sequels it is good enough. I was surprised to notice that it comes in just under 80 minutes!---if they could have stretched it to 90 minutes with more story details this would have been rated higher. I was not bored like some reviews previously but I definetly EXPECTED MORE from this movie. the extras on the dvd were very interesting. bottom line: rent it and curl up with your boyfriend or girlfriend-------you could have done worse(people who know movies know the what the bad ones are)---taunt little thriller that tried!----many others don't

Movie Review: Puuuuhleeeeeeeze!
Summary: 2 Stars

Starts off good with cool atmosphere and an awesome stunt, then goes south, way south. The worst part is that there is only one bug. This is not obvious other than a demonstration with ants in the beginning, then it makes sense. So this 6 foot cockroach wants to mate with the female lead, and in fact does, thenturns into a perfect replica of a human. Skin tone, eye color, hair pattern, everything.... Check out the behind the scenes to see what I mean.

Movie Review: Okay....It was kind of stupid
Summary: 1 Stars

I really like the first Mimic movie. When I seen there was a sequel I was interested in seeing where the movie makers would take the story next. Yet, this was pretty ridiculous.

A minor character from the first movie returns as a hip, cool teacher in the Bronx. Her love life sucks and she has more respect and admiration for bugs then she does for men. She also has a tendency to date some really horrible characters. Well she is definitely in for a suprise because her next date is guaranteed to be worse. Apparently, a bug from the Judus experiment is loose in the school where she works and it has taken a liken to the bug lady. It has choosen this lucky girl to be the mother of his larva (or larvae...whatever!) With the help of a cop who is hot on the scent! They attempt to defeat the mimic.

Now seriously....the problem I had with this movie was it didn't explain itself like the first Mimic. In this techno-science age it was plausible (almost) to believe that a mutant bug could be created that would have the ability to mimic human beings, their greatest predator. There was some believablity there, but this movie doesn't even explain why a bug would suddenly decide that a human woman is the perfect host for his children. I was left wondering at the end of the film what was really going on with the bug. Then they took it to the next level at the end and attempted to portray that the bug actually had some kind of affection for the lady in question. It was just too implausible.

Overall...the film was horrible. It doesn't suprise me that the flick went straight to video.

Movie Review: Bad Horror = Mimic 2
Summary: 1 Stars

This movie takes the cool concepts of Mimic, and then abuses, burns and trashes all the scary moments the first movie brought us.

This movie is slightly worse than watching an ant hill in the summer. if that is your idea of fun - then enjoy.
