Fans of British mysteries are bound to like this series. Grisly but devoid of the gory sensationalism that pervades many U.S. crime dramas, Midsomer Murders boasts the beautiful English countryside as well as the always unflappable Inspector Barnaby. Midsomer Murders is one of the best British mystery series I've ever watched.
It seems amazing to me how often people will lie to the police and they're ever so rude to the Chief Inspector, but he always catches them and their lies in the end.

I bought every set Amazon has and am eagerly awaiting the current Midsommer season, which BBCA chose NOT to air in the US. The stories are well written, the acting excellent, and the settings beautiful. They rival any PBS Mystery Series in every way. Worth every penny.

I absolutely love the Midsommer Murder series. I have read other reviews and am quite bothered that when the dvd's are released in the states that they are not complete sets or seasons. Why is that? The Midsomer Murders Series are clever, fun, intriguing, and great mystery fare. Even better than the books they're drawn from. Set 9, like all the sets I own, keeps me involved from the outset. I love the characters, and I love the actors who play them.
