Movie Reviews of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

Movie Review: Early Clint Eastwood movie adapted from best seller novel
Summary: 5 Stars

Clint Eastwood directed this murder mystery set in Savannah, Georgia and based on a best seller novel. Although the movie differs somewhat from the novel (because of time constraints), the basic story of the novel is well represented. John Cusack and Kevin Spacey turn in their usual brillant performances, while several lesser roles are actually played by the people portrayed in the novel (most notably "Lady Chablis"). Having visited Savannah on one occasion, I thought the movie took the audience to several interesting Savannah sites providing us with a nice glimpse of a truly picturesque city of the deep South. I would highly recommend this movie.

Movie Review: Eastwood does it again (in a good way)
Summary: 4 Stars

Why is it Jude Law always plays the same character? (well, almost always...) He must get bored of it surely. Here again we see Mr Law (in one of his earlier roles admittedly) strutting his stuff as a self absorbed, fickle, skinny pretty boy with attitude. In this case he also happens to be a rent boy, but that aside, its the same character as the one he played in AI, Alfie, the Aviator....

Ho hum. Now I have that off my chest, what about the rest of the movie? I loved it: Surreal, quirky, and with the usual spellbinding performance from Kevin Spacey, playing a delightfully morally ambiguous closet homosexual in an American deep south town, who may or may not be guilty of the coldblooded murder of his boyfriend (Law).

John Cusack plays a New York writer reporter who is commissioned to review the famous Christmas party thrown each year by the fabulousy wealthy Spacey and who becomes embroiled in the central moral dilemma of the movie.

Throw in a sassy transvetsite (the Lady Chablis), sexy love interest Alison Eastwoood and a dose of Voodoo magic and the scene is set for a thoroughly amusing and unpredictable 1 hr and 55 mins..

Movie Review: Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
Summary: 4 Stars

This is an intriguing murder mystery movie, set in mystical Savannah, Georgia. Kevin Spacy, John Cousack and a very young Jude Law all play great parts. From an endearing drag queen, to the city medicine voodoo woman, the town characters in this movie keep you interested, and all offer an entertaining slant to the plot. I'd seen this before, but once again... I loved it!

Movie Review: Men are all a little gay
Summary: 2 Stars

With all the inbreeding down south I suppose explains a lot about the plot of this movie or why they lost the war. I thought it was ok buy I liked the book better. Even Clint Eastwood has to direct at least one stinker. I did enjoy the female impersonator "Chablis", he was terrific. In all fairness though this was hard material to make a movie of, and it shows.

Movie Review: You messed up
Summary: 1 Stars

I received an empty carton with no movies disc included. It was so complicated to try and get satisfaction from you that I just ate the charge and got the movie "Midnight in The Garden of Good and Evil" from someone else.
