Movie Review: One of the worst surround sound mixes ever

While I have the Michael W Smith A New Hallelujah CD which I think is awesome, I purchased the DVD in addition hoping to experience the worship concert in surround sound (5.1 dolby surround) which the DVD title has as well as the stereo 2 channel mix. The 5.1 mode is one of the worst renditions of a DVD concert I have ever heard, on my 7.1 surround system it pretty much just comes out of just the front left and right channels... you end up having to select stereo mode in the dvd menu then forcing your stereo system into 'all stereo' mode if yours has this option in order to experience it the same way as the cd. If you have a 5.1 system this means left and right front will get pumped out the back channels at the same level and on a 7.1 all 3 speakers on the left and right will pump out the same signal. Only buy the DVD if you want to see what is going on stage because the audio mixing quality is terrible, just stick with the CD for the best results. Whoever encoded the 5.1 track on this dvd basically just took a stereo signal and then horribly tried to remix it.
