Movie Reviews of Michael Jackson: The Untold Story of NeverlandMovie Review: ALL I WANT ARE THE FACTS! Summary: 5 Stars
First, I would like to thank Mr. Nimmer for being very honest in his documentary. Mr. Nimmer did not film this documentary to prove or disprove the charges against Michael. He actually admits he was a little reluctant to even participate in the filming because of what he "might find". Like many others he wasn't sure if Michael did what was alleged or not. It just so happened that in the process he came to discover that these allegations were false, that the accusers were dishonest people who made their living off of other people's hard work, and that the media is always more than willing to do or say just about anything for ratings.
I didn't buy this dvd to confirm what I already knew. I already knew in my heart that Michael was innocent. Any honest person could've looked into Michael's eyes and saw he was innocent of these cruel, disgusting charges. I bought this dvd strictly for the facts surrounding the case and although I wish there was more "Michael footage" Mr. Nimmer didn't disappoint. The media gladly presented pictures they thought weren't in Michael's best interest and aired only so-called "evidence" from the prosecution that was supposed to prove to the public "Michael's guilt". I'm glad Mr.Nimmer showed the other side. The side that wouldn't garner ratings but would show Michael for the giving, caring individual whose love for others made him an easy target in the eyes of those who felt it was easier to lie for gain instead of work and make an honest living. For those who want the truth I would suggest purchasing this film.
There is actual footage of Gavin Arvizo, the accuser, in a taped police interview. Hardly looked like a boy who was traumatized after having been molested, but more so like a boy well-coached and well rehearsed. Although Gavin had taken acting classes his 'performance' during questioning was hardly believable, laughable at best if the situation weren't so serious. Footage also shows a rebuttal tape made by the Arvizos in Michael's defense after the airing of the Martin Bashir interview. It was very interesting to see the actual accusers as I had only seen the boy in that infamous interview Living With Michael Jackson. According to Gavin the molestation supposedly had taken place before this rebuttal video, yet he and his family are professing their love for Michael, explaining how he helped them when no one else would and how he was like a father to them, even calling him daddy at one point. Would you make a video showing extreme adulation for someone who had done such horrible things to you?... Exactly. You can see from these tapes that this is a family that loves the limelight. All the kids (Gavin, brother Star and sister Davellin) studied performing arts. The mother even mentioned that they wanted to be in the entertainment industry. Gavin himself wanted to be an actor. Hmm...I could go on but I'll leave that alone.
Footage of the Neverland raid. (Keep in mind Michael was out of the country when they invaded his estate).Watching this showed the utter lack of respect the sheriffs had for Michael, seen in the way they treated his employees and the way approximately 77 sheriffs, deputies, etc. intruded upon his home and violated his privacy. 77! My question is who was taking care of real criminal activity that may have needed police attention?! They were , in my opinion, very arrogant and felt they were entitled to be that way because they were the law.
Sure, I could write more but it's not the same as you seeing this with your own eyes and hearing with your own ears. The fact is there were well-hatched plans by GREEDY ASSOCIATES(those who worked with Michael directly and indirectly), BEGGERS, LIARS AND THIEVES(the Arvizos, accusers before them and even past disgruntled employees) and a bitter District Attorney (Tom Sneddon who's had a vendetta against Michael since the 90's). By the way Janet (the mother) and her family had been swindlers all their lives. She'd sued JC Penney in the past, claiming their security guards sexually and physically abused her in an open parking lot, yet no one witnessed this. The security guards in question actually caught her son stealing and a chase ensued where they ended up in the parking lot. A scuffle took place and the Arvizos attacked them, not the other way around (according to police records). She was also brought up on welfare fraud charges amongst other things. Says a lot about her character, or lack thereof. The Arvizos made a living off the backs of others. It also says a lot about the DA/ prosecution. Either they had a serious vendetta against Michael or their mental capacity was such that they could not differentiate between honest testimonies of credible witnesses and that of outlandish "he held us hostage at Neverland and I was afraid he was going to kill us" stories, concocted by serial scam artists who didn't want to lose what they saw as their meal ticket for life. The most unbelievable part of Janet Arvizo's testimony (found in Michael Jackson Conspiracy) was that she and her family were going to plan an escape via a hot air balloon. This is what the DA presented to the court.
Michael was a beautiful soul who was taken advantage of. I'm just happy that now he can finally rest in the love and peace of God the Father, in Heaven. Like the Bible says, whether good or bad, "you WILL reap what you sow".
Although I thought the documentary was well done there are a few things I would like to mention in closing, if I may:
1. I totally agree with one of the reviewers. Mr. Nimmer didn't have to make negative comments about Michael's
face. I saw no point in that.
2. On the extras included in the film there was a supporter of Michael's, who I'm assuming agreed to be taped, who
unfortunately had lipstick on her teeth. Whomever was filming at the time I guess thought it was funny because
they kept zooming in on it. I thought that was in very poor taste.
3. Lastly, if you haven't read Michael Jackson Conspiracy by Aphrodite Jones that should be your next purchase.
Full of facts, even some pictures. Very informative with actual trial testimony by Chris Tucker,
Jay Leno (who was subpoenaed) and others.
