Movie Reviews of Merlin's ApprenticeMovie Review: Camelot sequel Summary: 4 Stars
Sam Neill stars as Merlin in this 'after the fall of Camelot' fantasy. A spell has caused Merlin to sleep for fifty years while King Arthur's court fell apart. Now that Merlin has awakened, he must find answers to what happened while he slept and why the Holy Grail left before what little remains of Camelot is destroyed forever. But Merlin is weak and no match for the 'Lady of the Lake' played by Miranda Richardson. She's turned against Camelot and causes Merlin's search for clues to end in failure. In stumbles a bumbling young wizard/thief who may be Merlin's only hope for the people of Camelot.
Though a few areas of the movie were painfully predictable, there were just as many unforseen twists to make the sequel interesting without encroaching on the magic of the original legend.

Movie Review: Inspiring if you can ignore a little of its cheesiness Summary: 4 Stars
As a previous reviewer mentioned, it doesn't really pick up where the last movie left off. In fact, the first movie does a great job of giving you the impression that the story is finished and that there is nothing left.
That aside, the new movie is very enjoyable if you like this type of fantasy legend with idealism. There were many good one-liners and aphorisms one could live by.
Near the end, it's a little too "Cinderella" in its idealism and the special effects look like old Disney effects in a way. But upon watching it for the second time, the message came shining through past some of the little problems.
I am glad I bought it and have the first Merlin as well. It's no Lord of the Rings production, but the story behind this movie is golden and worth pondering.
Very nice.
Movie Review: A New Spin on Camelot Summary: 4 Stars
This film looks at the time after Camelot when Arthur is no more. Merlin is trying to figure out what happened to Camelot when he finds a young man who shows signs of hidden magical talent. As the film continues Merlin trains the young man who will later take over for Merlin in an attempt to restore the ideals and place of Camelot.
This follow up is well done and it is great to have Sam Neil back as Merlin.
Movie Review: Light and enjoyable Summary: 4 Stars
Not a bad kiddie type show. Predictable. Special effects are ok...not the type of movie that would win an award, but, it is the type you can safely watch with your children..and not worry about death and mass destruction being flashed across the screen in technicolor blood.
Movie Review: A Good Fantasy Movie Summary: 4 Stars
I watched this movie without having ever viewed Merlin. As a stand alone film, I thought it was pretty good. The plot is interesting and the story moves along at a good pace. There are interesting characters and a satisfying conclusion.
