Movie Reviews of Men With BroomsMovie Review: Fun, unusual romantic comedy Summary: 5 Stars
You don't have to be Canadian, or know anything about curling, to appreciate the humor inherent in this film; all you need is an appreciation of how sometimes, life takes some interesting turns. If you like any of the actors in this film - Paul Gross, Leslie Nielson, Molly Parker play the leads - be prepared to see them in a different light. The story is of four friends who try to achieve a lifelong goal of curling glory, and along the way attempt to deal with some everyday stresses: the women in their lives, low sperm counts, murderous thugs, unexpected legacies, jilted lovers, and oh, yeah, that curling thing. :-)
Movie Review: Not just for Canadians Summary: 5 Stars
This is a brilliant piece of Canadiana that has widespread appeal. It is hilarious and proves once again that Canadians are secure enough about their identity to poke fun at themselves. Paul Gross is an unbelievable talent(one only needs to note how many times his name appears in the credits)who has impeccable comedic and dramatic timing. Americans should get a real kick out of the endless stereotypes at work in this film. Enjoy.
Movie Review: The best cross between British and American humor Summary: 5 Stars
As far as I'm concerned, Paul Gross can do no wrong, I've loved him ever since Tales of the City...And he doesn't disappoint here. I knew nothing of curling, but it didn't matter, this movie cracked me up. Between the beavers and the announcers and the music, it is one fun ride. The extras at the end are great as well. What is even more fun is trying to figure out what movies you know the other actors from. Thank you IMDB. Just a good time, eh? Erin Marra
Movie Review: Funny, funny movie Summary: 5 Stars
I recently rented this movie because, being a huge due South fan, I knew I had to see it. I cracked up through the whole thing. This movie has plenty of good random humor. It also has a sweet love story woven into it. I had no problems getting the Canadian humor thanks to years of watching due South. I dont think you really have to know the sport of curling to get this movie though. It's just good fun. It's Mystery Alaska meets The Replacements.
Movie Review: men with brooms Summary: 5 Stars
After their father dies suddenly on a boat at the beginning of the movie, Chris Cutter (Paul Gross) and three of his buddies get together after several years and play curling and beat the apposing team, as his father's dying wish. He also wanted to be cremated and his ashes be stored in a curling stone.
I really liked this movie and I recommend it to anyone who likes comedies.
