Movie Reviews of Meet the Robinsons [Blu-ray]Movie Review: Fantastic Family Movie Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this movie on a whim and wasn't really looking for it being very good due to the trailers I'd seen. It just looked strange and plotless from the impression I got from the trailer. I was very pleasantly surprised when I watch this movie! The music is great, Danny Elfman does a great job and brings out a lot of emotion with the music, but this story isn't music dependent it just adds to it, like it should. The visuals are incredible, we've come a long way in this CGI world and in Blu-Ray this does become a world in itself especially in the future scenes , and the main plot is heartwarming. I tell everyone that this is my new favorite movie.
The Robinson family is eccentric yes, and maybe a little unbelievable, but hey, this is fiction! Only in this movie can a wife be just a puppet some how come off as understandable and there are some who may not be able to handle the zaniness, but just sit back and enjoy the ride. Not everything in life has to be so serious all the time and completely based in reality. Some people have mentioned thinking that young kids won't like this movie, but that is totally incorrect! My four children are 6, 4, 3, and 1 they want to watch this movie at least once a week. Maybe they don't get the whole plot, but they enjoy the adventure and just take it for what it is. I love all of the main characters, even the bad guy is one of the most enjoyable I've seen in a long time. He's stupidly funny that makes the kids laugh and not be scared of him, but still know he's not a good guy either.
The plot about Louis not having a family is touching. I think that the movie really lets you feel and know what it's like to be a little boy without a mom or dad. I loved how it showed that family is really an important thing in people's lives in general and even seemingly crazy and chaotic families can still be loving and have a lot to offer. There was also a message about personal responsibility that really hit home too. It's just a short little statement, but it said so much. Basically the point was sometimes bad things happen to you caused by other people, but you're responsible for what and how you react to that problem, you can chose to let it fester and turn you into an angry, bitter person or you can choose to let it go... and keep moving forward.
I really appreciated the theme of "Keep Moving Forward" I think a lot of people struggle with their failures, but just like Thomas Edison making the lightblub, through our failures we still learn and learn what NOT to do which is sometimes just as important. I think of this phrase a lot in my own personal life when something comes to a failure. Never thought that I'd get all of this from a kids movie from Disney.
I've been very disappointed with Disney for a long time minus the Pixar movies. This was a new and fresh offering from Disney in a very, very long time. I wish they would have sold this movie for what it actually offers you in the trailers. I guess reviews of movies help you find hidden treasures like this one. I am glad I took a gamble on getting this for my kids. This has way more to offer than you'd ever expect... and maybe even a tear or two at the end, if you're like me.
