Movie Reviews of Meet the NumbersMovie Review: Educational, Entertaining and Effective! Summary: 5 Stars
Meet the Numbers is a very clever DVD that taught my 21 month old son to recognize numbers zero through 10 and to count. He watched Meet the Letters for three weeks and learned ALL of the letters of the alphabet. He began to point at letters everywhere we would go but would become frustrated when he saw number characters. I bought Meet the Numbers and within 2 days he knew numbers too! The first section of the video is designed for children to learn number names. The number characters only say their own name while they are doing something that has to do with that number. For example, "zero" blows bubbles that pop before they form. This is such a clever way to represent zero! "One" rides a unicycle, and "two" blows out two birthday candles. The second section of the video is the counting section. Each character counts to get to their number. When my son counts he always imitates the characters voices. The third section gives the kids a chance to test what they have learned. A series of familiar objects appear and the child counts out loud. Then the number character pops up on the screen. The video ends with a counting segment that my son wants to watch over and over again. I showed this video to my preschool and now they show it in all of their classes along with Meet the Letters. I only wish these videos were available when my first two children where toddlers.
Movie Review: Making Learning by Repetition Fun Summary: 5 Stars
When my son was about 17 months old, he started to show interest in numbers and letters. He has always has letter and number magnets on the fridge, but I decided to try this dvd as well as the "Meet the Letters" dvd to see if it would help him learn in more of a fun way. This dvd is a lot of repetition with saying the names of the numbers over and over and over, but my son just loved it and learned numbers 1-10 after only watching it a couple times. My son is now 2 years old and I still put in this dvd every once and awhile and he gets so excited and proud that he can say the number on the screen before they do. Since this "Meet the Numbes" dvd was such a success, I now have the entire series with the numbers, letters, shapes, colors, and sight words, and my son has mastered all of them. The only con about this video would be that it only goes up to 10. It would be nice if the video went up to twenty, but it is still great for starting out. I really reccommend this series, but just be prepared to hear the numbers over and over in a lot of different voices!
Movie Review: Learning Numbers as Easy as 1, 2, 3! Summary: 5 Stars
Meet the Numbers
My youngest son has special needs & mainly uses sign language as a form of communication. My son can learn all sorts of things from these videos that he was unable to learn in preshcool. With just days of "Meet the Numbers" he knew several numbers and with 2 weeks of "Meet the Letters" he was able to name many letters on the cover of Meet the Numbers. This is a big deal because just saying words clear enough for us to understand is hard yet he was able to say these things. I even consider somewhat of a speech therapy while he does the video because he talks along with them. With the simple & repetitive style it is very easy to pick up and they associate the characters with what they are leraning and are able to generatlize it into every day activities. I HIGHLY recomend this item not only for normal children but for those with special needs. We use our's in the car on the way to school. Better then just sitting there!
Movie Review: Exceptional Video for Children Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this, and a few other Preschool Prep videos for our Grandson, just before he turned two. He spends about three days a week with us, which is true joy! He was just learning a few words and wanted to try out some educational dvds to see if we could enhance his early education.
Turns out, this and the other Preschool Prep DVDs quickly became his favorites. He asks for them by name, "Numbers" or "Colors" or "Shapes."
The week he turned two (2), we were at a store, walking down an isle, and out of the blue, he started touching boxes going down the isle and said "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine!" We were so proud of him and it gave us some bragging rights. I'm sure other Grandparents know how special those are!
We were so impressed with these, we bought another set for him to take to his house, so he could watch them at home as well. These are great DVDs for early childhood development.
Movie Review: If you want your 18 month old to learn numbers you must buy this! Summary: 5 Stars
A must have for anyone wanting to teach their child number characters and counting from one to ten. My three year old son learned letters from Meet the Letters and already knew numbers so I didn't get a chance to try this one out until my 18 month old was ready for it. He only watched it three times before he started pointing at numbers everywhere we went. I gave it to his preschool teacher and she is now showing it to the whole class. The first section of the video teaches number character recognition and the second section lets the kids practice what the have learned. The third teaches counting. My son is only 18 months old and this video is perfect for this age. I also recomend the other DVDs from Preschool Prep Company, Meet the Letters, Meet the Shapes and Meet the Colors. You will not be sorry!
