Movie Reviews of Matilda (Special Edition)Movie Review: A Family and Classroom Favorite!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Matilda is one of my all time favorite movies! My children and I love it! I also show it in my 2nd grade classroom, and it has been a favorite of my students for years. They love the outrageous characters and the amusing situations. In response to some of the reviews that the movie is dark and scary - it is supposed to be over-the-top, that's the way the book was written. The story teaches a lesson by showing that people who are "good" are rewarded, and people who are "bad" face consequences. Not only is it funny, but it is a sweet and charming movie that makes you feel good at the end! Very highly recommended!
Movie Review: I love this movie ***** Fun Filled Summary: 5 Stars
I have yet to get this movie on DVD, but I have it on VHS. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I actually know most if not all the lines in the movie.
Bruce Bugtrotter was one of my favorite characters in the film. I love the cake scene in the audutoriam(sp). I love when he told trunchbull that his moms cake was better. "How can you be sure, unless you have another bite." Lol it's a laughable feelgood fun movie.
This is a movie for all ages.
Danny Devito and his wife Rhea Pearlman are really funny this movie. they work well together.
Movie Review: Courage, Matilda! Summary: 5 Stars
Any kid would need courage to go up against parents like Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman! They are two of the most delightfully awful parents ever, and you just have to love to hate them.
But, having such awful parents certainly prepared Matilda to go up against the meanest school principal of all time. All this nastiness encourages Matilda to become self-sufficient and discover a very strange talent that will ultimately bring her the happy ending that she deserves!
This is a great family film!
Movie Review: Go across the pond for the widescreen format Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely loved this movie, but was irked by the fullscreen format. Who would expect a "Special Edition" to have a modified aspect ratio? Just on a hunch, I checked out Amazon.co.uk, and the Special Edition there is presented in widescreen format, as the picture was intended to be seen. If you have a multi-region dvd player and would like to see the widescreen version, buy the PAL disc from the U.K. Be warned that it is region 2 and will not play on American dvd players unless they are multi-region.
Movie Review: A truly excellent film Summary: 5 Stars
This film is brilliant in every way, and may well be my favorite film. It is cheerful, hopeful and cute, and more importantly it subtly passes on a lot of good lessons, and gives kids a positive role model in the titular character.
In today's cultural climate, it's hard to raise responsible, clever children, or even to teach them the value of reading and learning. The world needs more films like this.
