Movie Reviews of Manor HouseMovie Review: Please sir, may I have some more? Summary: 5 Stars
OK, OK Dickins was a little earlier, but I found the series so compelling I really did want more. Six hours did not satisfy my thirst for more information and commentary. As a history freak, it would be a fantasy come true for me to do something like this, but since I haven't, this is the next best thing. Of all the "House" series so far, this has proven my favorite, although I did enjoy 1940's House, 1900 House, and Frontier House as well. Colonial House is due to air in May 2004, and the BBC is filming Regency House (think: Jane Austen).
Movie Review: Utterly brilliant! A must see! Summary: 5 Stars
If you liked "Gosford Park," you will love this social experiement meets reality show. You'll experience the strict hierarchy of class and status of England in the early 1900s.
Narrated by the wonderful Derek Jacobi, he gives you a rich history of the whys and wherefores of the "upstairs/downstairs" way of life. The DVD also features some cheeky video diaries not included in the final broadcast (but don't watch them until you've seen the series first). I promise you'll get addicted to this show after watching the first hour!
Movie Review: Manor House is entertainment that satisfies on many different levels Summary: 5 Stars
I didn't know what to expect when I got this DVD, but in the end I was very satisfied with this purchase. The show goes into much detail in setting up the situation, explaining who the people are and what they are doing there.
Then the day-to-day life begins and the people are in store for a rude awakening at best.
The show will definately be of interest to many different sorts of people because it informs on different levels, history, reality TV drama, entertainment and visually appealing.
Movie Review: Excellent!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a very, very well done time period reality series.....Explores Edwardian time period with great detail and what a manor house would be like and how harsh exsistence really was for servants, especially the lower ones. I like how it went through all the way up to WWI and what would potentially happen to the men of the project if they had really lived in 1914...
Movie Review: Heavenly Fun Summary: 5 Stars
I came across this series at a time in my life when I was sad. This wonderful tale of the hardships and regimentation of the past, made me feel better. Also I fell in love with the footman Rob Daly
what a cutie pie !! This was a touching and tender series, and the Oliff Coopers became what the high class probally were simply annoying !!!
