Movie Review: The role Denzel has been waiting for
Summary: 5 Stars

Denzel Washington is simply one of the best actors alive. He's recently began to expand into roles you normally wouldn't see him in. In TRAINING DAY, he proved he could play a great baddie, but he was fighting for a bad cause so he wasn't really likeable. In MAN ON FIRE, he applies that same intensity and ruthlesness into the role of a man fighting for what is right. He had a scene in TRAINING DAY where he roughed up a guy who had just tried to rape a teenage girl. It was the one scene where you could really cheer him on and derive satisfaction from what he was doing. Now, Imagine a full hour of Denzel bringing down his vengeful wrath on a bunch of evil men in that same fashion. It's really something to behold. However, the real heart and soul of the film are in the first half when he goes from being cold blooded emotionless drunk to loving a little girl like she was his own. Their relationship is firmly established (mainly due to the great on-screen chemistry beetween the two) and when she is taken from him, the blood begins to spill. It's the subtle things in Denzel's performance that really make it shine. Like when he quickly kisses a photo of the girl before he blows one guy away. He shows tenderness a split second before he shows ruthlesness. His character undergoes such a dramatic transformation that it takes an actor of the highest skill to do it convincingly. Some scenes use a shaky fast-edit visual style that is a bit annoying, but it really doesn't detract from the film as a whole. The movie is truly fantastic due to the writing and acting, not the directing. It's a must have for any Denzel fans, or really anyone who enjoys a well written story with real heart.

Movie Review: Denzell does it again !!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is great. Denzell Washington gives an excellent performance as John Creasy, a former assassin now turned bodyguard. He has been hired to be a bodyguard to 9-year old Pita Ramos (Dakota Fanning) whose father is Samuel Ramos (Marc Anthony).

In the beginning, Creasy doesn't want anything to do with being a bodyguard. But with nothing else to do, he accepts the job.

Creasy and Pita don't get along at first. With Creasy not yet sold on the idea of being a bodyguard, paired with this very talkative 9-year old full of questions, Creasy appears to regret his decision to accept the job. However, they eventually develop a friendship.

After only a few days, they've grown pretty attached. Just as things seem to be going well, Creasy runs into trouble when he notices a car has been following him.

His fears come true when he is run off the road and a shootout occurs. Amongst all the gunfire, Creasy notices he has been seriously injured. To make matters worse, Pita is missing from his car. She has been kidnapped.

After recovering from his injuries, Creasy sets out to find the little girl. He will stop at nothing to get her back.

Whose behind the kidnapping and why?

Watch this action-packed thriller and find out.

Once again, Denzell Washington is at the top of his game. Dakota Fanning is adorable in her role. She is really gifted at such a young age.

If you haven't already seen this movie, watch it. You won't be disappointed.

Must see for Denzell fans. Must see for Dakota fans.

Must see !!!

Movie Review: Man on Fire is sure to please
Summary: 5 Stars

Maybe not in a smiling way, but it is definitely a great flick of 2004, with Denzel Washington in lead character. The movie has alot of appeal for many reasons: Denzel's character is easily relatable for many people out there because he does have trouble communicating with others, and prefers to be alone. Dakota Fanning is one heck of an actress, and she is going to the top!! I've never scene such a great performance from any kid. She really makes you love her, and that is good acting. She is a born star and I can't wait to see her in more touching roles like this one! To be honest, I didn't even know Marc Anthony acted before this, I thought he was just a singer. Oh well, after that performance, he should probably just stick to singing. I wasn't impressed at all. And who doesn't love to see Christopher Walken in yet another flick? He is just such an enjoyable actor with great chemistry in the film, and it really showed! The movie is violent in the second half, but it does have a message about love, and how powerful it is. Love changes you, no matter how big a villain you are, love can change you like it did to Denzel's character. It made him love that girl and that's what made it fun in the second half, after he believed she was dead, he decided to take out his revenge. And that was cool!!

The film is filled with top-notch acting(excluding Marc Anthony), an explosive and entertaining second half, and a just plainly happy first half. Denzel and Dakota have great chemistry in their scenes and it really works!! Though some parts might be a little cheesy, for the most part, it's realistic and entertaining! Definitely recommending this film.

Movie Review: Denzel Does It Again
Summary: 5 Stars

Denzel plays a man with a very checkered past. He has resorted to drinking to try an wash his memory clean. It doesn't help, and he seems on a downward spiral. But when he accepts a job as a bodyguard for a nine-year-old girl, a little bit of light begins to shine in his life. Of course it doesn't last long. Kidnappers are determined to us the girl to gain a ransom.

Denzel Washington is a fantastic actor, and in this movie he once again proves how good he is. This was a tough role to play. He had to do a lot of non-speaking acting in this one - often portraying anguish, edge-of-happiness, and genuine fear of where he may be heading in his life, over and over again. He pulled it off every time.

I enjoyed the entire cast in this movie, and I believe Brian Helgeland did an excellent job on the screenplay. The film flows really well, reminding me of a documentary - director Tony Scott is amazing at what he does.

I have heard some critics say this movie is too violent. I say no way! Heck, it had Mickey Rourke and Christopher Walken as cast members, and they never killed anyone - that's a non-violent film for those guys!

Dakota Fanning performs magnificently as the girl Denzel's character is asked to protect. She has a great future in Hollywood - of this I'm sure.

All in all, this movie delivers what any good movie should - a good plot, excellent acting, great visuals and one-liners, and characters you begin to care about.

Get this movie! You'll enjoy it.

See ya next review.

Movie Review: Thrilling From Beginning To End
Summary: 5 Stars

You get what they promised with this flick -- good script, great acting, and lots of action to keep your surround sound speakers thumping, especially the subwoofer, as things go "boom" in some scenes. The ending was somewhat surprising, which is always a plus. And absolutely no time was wasted tying up loose ends after that.

What I liked most is thatwhen the hero gets physically hurt, he's still hurting from it for the duration of the film. Very realistic and thankfully unlike all the other action films where a guy gets shot in the thigh and stabbed in the shoulder, but kickboxes his way through the rest of the movie.

There is plenty to love about this film. There's plenty of fine acting, a good story and thrilling action.

More than most contemporary works, this movie IS what it claims to be, and MORE. A well-told story with shooting and stuff blowing up, all for some very good reasons. I was glad to see Denzel Washington doing something so far removed from all his many other roles, save for Out Of Time, another great action-drama flick.

Keeping in mind all DW's previous roles, which are all very highb row, this film and "OOT" make the very well-timed transitional roles between everything else and TRAINING DAY, which was just totally over the top, in a good way! Perhaps no other actor's catalogue shows such a logical and visible depth and growth and direction.

You MUST SEE this movie. Remember, the earlier film, Out Of Time, is another good choice.
