Movie Review: Great movie

I love Miguel Cervantes Story telling of Don Quiotxe De la Mancha. This has great songs. Rent is another one of my favorite musical turned movies but they are hardly alike. Rent is about the bohemian village, man of la mancha is about early spanish inquisition, but i do beilive they have a small relation.
Anyways, the story is that two men get under arest. the mayor lets him do a charade to prove innocent. The stor of Don quiotxe de la mancha,His squire Sancho Panzo,His Lady Aldonza/Dulcinea,and his journey to become a knight. he wants to prove that you shall not look at life as it is but as it should be. Great Message!!!
I love everything about this play/ movie. i had recently saw the play at a community theatre,and theni i bought the movie, they are very alike. i love them both and i pefer either to anybody, any age for this blend of comedy and drama makes u happy and sad, It gives out wonderful words and quotes. This is a must-watch movie!!!
Movie Review: The acting is what counts here...

As a "Don Quixote" enthusiast, I have many recordings of the musical and, of course, had to own a DVD of the movie. I would say that the acting is what counts here. The outstanding Peter O'Toole is a very convincing and memorable Don Quixote, although it is a distraction when he lip-sincs thorough his songs (it's quite noticable). I still have to say, however, that the movie is outstanding in that the beautiful and sexy Sophie Loren is an appropriate Aldonza/Dulcinea. James Coco also brings the right essence to the role of Sancho.
I really enjoyed this movie and would like to see a remake for the new millinium that reflects the musical styles popular since the original movie (disco, rap, hip-hop). A Latin/Spanish version would also be quite appropriate as that kind of music and culture is becoming more a part of our American melting pot.
This wonderful score and it's profound message could surely withstand such variety of interpretation.

This movie play is delightful and entertaining but it carries a message that all need to hear. See life as it should be, not as it appears to be. What it appears to be to the mind is a dark place of suffering and death. But what it should be is what it is in reality. We each can begin to follow our hearts and to go on our own quest to follow that star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far. And if we do, we will not only change our lives and how we see the world around us, but we will change other's lives such as the Man of La Mancha changed Aldonsa. We each must follow our dreams, the dreams that come from our heart, not our head. This movie captures this is a wonderful way.Movie Review: As good today as so many years ago.

I really like being able to get just about anything on DVD. This classic is a good example. Now if they'd just put "No Highway in the Sky" on DVD I'd be a happy camper-but I'm on the wait list.
I highly recommend this DVD. It brings back poignant memories for me of a time in my life when I was dreaming an impossible dream but she said no. I never forgot the song or the lyrics since they seemed so appropos. Thanks Amazon for making this DVD easy to buy and easy to afford. Darn,don't you all just love Amazon.com!

Movie Review: inspired me

Back in 1968, my brother (then a freshman) saw a production of Man of La Mancha at Grove City College and it remains one of his favorite memories. He is currently fighting for his life (cancer) and I purchased this DVD for him - but first, watched it myself. This movie is inspirational - find the goodness in life. Watch it for the story and expect to be inspired. It still reminds me of my brother in his current fight to stay alive. Peter O'Toole is totally believable in his part. I don't like musicals......but I loved this one.
