Movie Review: The Malice review
Summary: 4 Stars

I like the movie alot. It captivates me. I especially like dvds because you privledged to see the edited parts that most people would not see on video.

Movie Review: thriller
Summary: 4 Stars

This movie is a thriller that is very difficult to find. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a suspense filled movie.

Movie Review: let me rack my brain for a clever retort...
Summary: 4 Stars

There are other candidates for best line besides "I AM God." My favorite is "Welcome to the game."

Movie Review: Buy the Movie. Don't Read Too Many of These Reviews
Summary: 3 Stars

Without warning you Spoiler Alert! at least two of the reviewing geniuses below reveal major plot twists, one in disagreeing with Ebert's accurate line about the serial killer subplot. Reading those reviews ruins some of the fun in this delicious flick, a magnet for me whenever I catch it on TV. The plot is summarized above so there's no need for me to do it here. This is one of those movies, like Wild Things, where the less you know about the plot going in, the better.

Great movie? No. Fun movie with some stunning, clap-in-surprise moments? Oh, mama, yes.

I'm going to bet the folks who made To Die For went after Nicole Kidman after seeing Malice. The comic talent needed for To Die For isn't seen here, but she establishes pretty clearly the icy (rhymes with "kitsch") persona she would carry through that movie and the rest of her best performances.

Overall, this movie is well-shot and very well cast. The moment you see each character, you have a strong conception of the role they'll play in this multilayered plot -- or, rather, the role the filmmakers want you to think they'll play. Some of it is acting, but much of it is the weight of the actors and actresses previous performances. This was back when Peter Gallagher always played scheming cads, Alec Baldwin played the chick magnet, George C. Scott was the voice of wisdom and Nicole Kidman...well, if you aren't thinking (rhymes with "glitch") by her second or third scene, you probably really believe the check is in the mail.

The movie is a worthy buy. No Best Picture contender and if it's on your list of Top 10 Favorite Films, please leave the room. But as a fine slice of entertainment, I'll take it. As a DVD, I like a slew of extras, however, and the lack of them is disapppointing.
