Movie Reviews of Malcolm XMovie Review: Malcolm's Quest For Justice... Summary: 4 StarsFor the most part, I did not like this movie because I wish Malcolm had
not become a Muslim, having perceived the hypocrisy of they who claimed
to worship the God of Israel but did not...Malcolm gave up on Christianity
it seemed, and they who called themselves Christians were never willing
it seems to accept the truths that Malcolm poured into their ears.
To wit, Christian "churches" in the US have been calling people of colour,
Canaanites, claiming that they are born to be slaves, that slavery is condoned
in the Bible (KJV). Actually, this word, slave, only appears once in the King
James Version of the Holy Bible. 'Canaanite', the "root word" of which is
Canaan: the Son of Ham, who was the third son of Noah. Noah cursed Canaan
for what Ham did: His curse is a similitude. You do not want to be a "Son of
Sam" (a Canaanite), you want to be a Son of God. It is not genetics, but behaviour,
which shall determine whether you are to be regarded as a Son of God, or as a
Canaanite. One of the Apostles is recorded in the Bible (KJV) as being a Canaanite
(person), a descendant of Canaan, but that does not mean his skin colour was as
the spots on a leopard, or that he was a Canaanite (nature)...Do not confuse
PERSON with NATURE: For some fathers are not fathers...See, Mark 3:18, KJV...
If Adolf Hitler was your dad, a way to "honour your parents" would be to be the
best Jew in all of Europe, and fight Nazis. Many Germans did not "honour their
parents" during WW2.
There were two powerful scenes which I still remember, along
with several others, but those two stood out for me: In one, near the
beginning of the film, when after the white girls "go free" and the two black
males receive lengthy sentences for the same crime, Malcolm finds himself
befriended by an intellectual, who tells him to look up the words BLACK
and WHITE in a dictionary and see how they are defined...Brain poisoning...
A dirty mind needs to be washed.
Black and white are colours. But then why did "they" assign all those other definitions
to these two words, recording them in dictionaries (reference guides)? Why associate
the colour black with evil, or the colour white with goodness? For that which appears
as light (see, 2 Cor 11:14, KJV) might be evil, and that which is coloured black might be
good (black jelly beans taste the best, don't you think?). Also see, John 1:5, KJV.
Consider obtaining the DVD with that cover art, which is a black background with a
white X upon it. For it might help you see more clearly...Also, why do "they" use the
expression, 'Black Friday', for white people crucified Him on a Friday, did they not?
Also, consider that this word FAIR means "feminine beautiful", but a dictionary might
not tell you that. Some women have white skin colour, but they are not fair. Naomi
Campbell, an African American Model is fair. The moon is fair. The moon is feminine,
whereas the sun is masculine. See, Isaiah 13:10; Isaiah24:23; Job 31:26-28; Rev 12:1, KJV.
The masculine covers the feminine, like a garment, does it not? Consider, a mother
with a child. Consider what is called, a lunar (or solar) eclipse. See, John 7:24, KJV.
Consider also that the sun, though it be the greater light, is smaller in appearance
than the moon. A paradox is of two statements, both true, but which appear to
contradict each other. As Madonna might say, Khabbalists do it better.
The other scene is where Elijah holds up a glass of crystal clean pure water,
and tells Malcolm this is what their people need. He is referring to TRUTH,
but unfortunately he takes Malcolm on a journey called Islam. But that glass
of water...makes powerful sense, for it speaks of SOBRIETY, and also the need
for the PURE, and "unadulterated" TRUTH...Not half-truths, not truths sandwiched
between lies, but the whole truth, and nothing but the truth...Will you drink
that which is poison, or unclean? Filter: Refuse the evil, and choose the good.
You want "the real thing".
Who desires Truth, Judgement, Justice, Love?
What will it cost? Who can restore a man's sense of dignity and self-respect
but God alone? For you cannot get them to love you. Love is freely given,
and cannot be coerced. Malcolm seemed to learn that during the course of
the movie. Or maybe he always knew, but lacked self-confidence, the ability
to express what he already knew within...That was the impression I got. But
I still found it, and do find it, sad to watch, being a Christian.
Would I recommend this movie to others? I guess I just did.
Summary of Malcolm XInspiring story of Malcolm X, as he rises up from poverty, encounters the law, achieves spiritual enlightenment, and reaches out to others in the fight for human and civil rights. Item Type: DVD Movie Item Rating: PG13 Street Date: 01/16/07 Wide Screen: yes Director Cut: no Special Edition: no Language: ENGLISH Foreign Film: noSubtitles: no Dubbed: no Full Frame: no Re-Release: no Packaging: Sleeve Just as Do the Right Thing was the capstone of Spike Lee's earlier career, Malcolm X marked the next milestone in the filmmaker's artistic maturity. It seemed everything Lee had done up to that point was to prepare him for this epic biography of America's fiery civil-rights leader, who is superbly played by Oscar-nominated Denzel Washington, from his early days as a zoot-suited hustler known as "Detroit Red" to his spiritual maturity after his pilgrimage to Mecca, as a Black Muslim by the name of El Hajj Malik El Shabazz. Do the Right Thing climaxed with the photographic images of Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King engulfed by flames of rage; Malcolm X explores the genesis and evolution of that rage over Malcolm's lifetime, and how these two great figures--held up to the public as polar-opposites within the African American human rights movement (King for nonviolent civil disobedience, Malcolm for achieving equality "by any means necessary")--were each essential to the agenda of the other. Lee careens from the hedonistic ebullience of Malcolm's early days to the stark despair of prison, from his life-changing conversion to Islam to his emergence as a dynamic political leader--all with an epic sweep and vitality that illuminates personal details as well as political ideology. Angela Bassett is also terrific as Malcolm's wife, Betty Shabazz. --Jim Emerson
