Movie Reviews of Making Love

Movie Review: Customer REVIEW for "Making Love"
Summary: 4 Stars

Since this movie was made so long ago, I was able to overlook the incessant homosexual stereotypes that seem to be a staple of this movie's many sub-plots. All in all, the movie was excellent compared to the overabundant, trashy gay-themed movies being cranked out over the last 5 years. The story was very common to most of us in the male gay community, the outgoing and out-of-the-closet typical token gay meets the straight, married and confused bi-curious(?) man... a strained and exciting affair begins and ends, etc. etc. ... Kate Jackson's performance was mediocre at best, completely eclipsed by the mere site of Michael Ontkean and Harry Hamlins gorgeous bodies and manliness devouring eachother in the several erotic scenes that appear to be only moderately edited. A GREAT MOVIE OVERALL, i recommend if the price is right, BUIY IT!!

Movie Review: Worth viewing again
Summary: 4 Stars

For those of us who were old enough to see "Making Love" when it first came out over a quarter century ago, a second look is well worth it. At the time, this film was considered groundbreaking, if not overly deep, but one is reminded that this was a pre-AIDS era and one where gay themes had not yet been tackled in a two-hour film.

The story is simple enough...a triangulation of people in love and a marriage which fails due not to any malicious intent. While the acting is not exactly gripping, it does have a poignancy and relevance to 2008. "Making Love" could be made today with some minor changes, but the core of the film is good.

Movie Review: It's about time!
Summary: 4 Stars

This classic pre-AIDS movie made a big splash when released in 1982. The first big gay love story with two 3 well know actors. It is a love story that deals with Michael Ontkean's stuggle in "coming out" (he is married to Kate Jackson) but meets and has a major attraction to Harry Hamlin. While flawed in some ways, it still comes across as a very sensitive film that deals with a very sensitive & emotional issue that is still as timely as ever. I personally applaud films like this that can actually make a difference in people's lives by possibly helping them see that they are not alone in whatever personal issue they may have.

Movie Review: cheesy, campy, classic...just the thing
Summary: 4 Stars

I saw this way back when it first came out, and like most folks I was just happy no one had to die at the end of it. Is it a great movie? No, but it is a slice of life and time that does play more like a Lifetime movie, but both guys look good and all involved seem to get a happy ending of their own, which is nice. I will always be a Michael Ontkean fan, he is just hot.

I think this is a very good movie about relationships and realizing your true self. Kate Jackson is perfect as the concerned/confused wife and Micheal Ontkean and Harry Hamlin are very good in their roles as well. The movie is very tastefully done and truly about the characters and their evolutions not just sex.
