Movie Reviews of MadelineMovie Review: Madeline, a 5 year old's favorite movie!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
My great niece saw this movie on my Video On Demand while staying with me at the end of the summer. She watched it many times, and seemed to love it more and more each time! I have to admit: it is excellent - much better (in my opinion) than most movies made for young children/families that I have seen! Knowing that it wouldn't always be available "on demand" as they cycle them through, I purchased this for her for Christmas!
When Emily got "bored" with the adult talk while meal preparation was going on during our Christmas get-together, she had come to me to ask to watch "Madeline" again on the Video On Demand; and it was no longer available! When she asked me why it was gone, I told her they changed the offerings so people wouldn't get bored. She said, "well I'm not bored with Madeline!"!!! I was so happy to have ordered this movie for her!! I have to admit...SHE WAS MORE EXCITED WHEN OPENING THIS, THAN ALL THE BARBIES, INCLUDING THE DREAM HOUSE! It is a magical movie...one that I wasn't familiar with! YOU WON'T REGRET PURCHASING THIS MOVIE!
Movie Review: A Cute Movie to Enjoy forever!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I remember when I saw this in 1998 with my grandma and my cousins and we sneaked in the theatres with hamburgers and didn't get in trouble. Anyways this is a cute movie I use to watch the cartoon on Disney channel but now I feel I grew too old for the cartoon and stickec with the movie I think the young actress who played Madeline looks alot like the cartoon she's very cute and I think Frances McDormand is good at playing Miss Clavel but all I can say is I give it a THUMBS UP!!!! and want you to go buy this for all it's worth! 14 yr. old veiwer
Movie Review: Good fun for girls Summary: 5 Stars
Our 4-year old enjoyed it, with a little explanation in order about Miss Clavel's habit, and about the motives of the kidnappers.A very nice extra on the DVD is an old 1952 animated short based closely on the original Bemelmans book, with the text and cartoon style nearly identical. Amusingly, Miss Clavel is therein depicted as a sort of governess, rather than as a nun; perhaps a sign of the times, or maybe the cartoon's producers were not Catholic? I thought Hatty Jones did great in the title role -- wonder what ever happened to her?
Movie Review: Exicting and charming. Summary: 5 Stars
My 4yo currently loves this movie, and we've watched it every day for the last few days. I have to agree with another reviewer who commented on one of the early reviews. Apparently, Madeline is the only one of the 12 girls who is an orphan. I got the impression it was a Paris boarding school consisting mostly of students from England. Lord Covington's wife was probably french (Marie Gilbert), but I'm pretty sure he was British. If you grew up with a fascination for boarding school (ie: Facts of Life fan), you'll probably love this movie.
Movie Review: Great Family Movie! Summary: 5 Stars
I find that there are some very fine and overlooked family and children movies, Madeline, being one of them. Mrs. Arris Goes to Paris(with Angela Lansbury, Omar Shariff and other wonderful talent) is another one. I rented Madeline and loved it, for all the reasons stated in previous posts. Makes a great family gift!
