Movie Review: Great Love Story

I enjoyed this movie because it was an positive look into African American Culture. I also, enjoyed the strong Chicago setting. As a Chicago native, the use of the city as a back drop for the moving was moving and on point. The writer and directors were able to capture the true essence of Chicago while giving the movie mass appeal. The story line was funny, passionate and real. the connection between Larenz Tate and Nia Long was amazing. Also, the supporting cast was very well acted. The movie does an excellent job in showing love and how it can make you crazy.Movie Review: Great Love Story

I love this film so much. I love the creativity and look of the film. I love that the male characters don't have to all thuggish. Instead they are intelligent, funny, and masculine. I wish I had a man that loved me the way Darius loved Nina. I loved the friendship Savon, Darius, Ed, and Hollywood had with Sheila too. It was nice how they gathered together and had discussions that were meaningful and when they took themselves too seriously someone said something funny. I love this movie..It was refreshing to see a movie where young african-americans are intelligent and know how to enjoy themselves by forming relationship with their loved ones and their friends. Nia Long and Larenz Tate are the ultimate '90s couple. They love, break up, contemplate, miss, and reconcile with each other. Add to that the drama of their friends lives and drama and you have a excellent movie. Definitely buy the soundtrack. They need more movies like this one. The poetry readings are sensual, thoughtful and mesmerizing. Buy this movie!Movie Review: One of my top 10....

I was blown away by this movie mostly because it was a refreshing break from the typical "hood" movie often put out by black directors. The story was intelligent and had a whole different "vibe" to it. Long and Tate were superb and more importantly, "real". I could definitely relate. I'm a typical guy who doesn't like to get caught up in the "mushy" movies, but this boy-meets-girl story is pretty cool. The scene at the end is the bomb. It's sort of like our version of Casablanca. I HIGHLY recommend it.
