Movie Reviews of Love Comes Softly

Movie Review: I loved it! Wonderful!
Summary: 5 Stars

I totally loved this film, from beginning to end. I've only seen half of it on the Hallmark channel. However, it did inspire me to get the DVD to check the whole film, and I'm glad I did. It was wonderful, especially at the end. I cried, I mourned, I laughed, and in the end, I cried again, this time out of happiness and joy. I so can't wait to purchase the other videos in the Love Comes Softly series. I thought Katherine Heigl did an awesome job in the role of Marty. I also loved Dale Midkiff. I think after I check out the other movies, I'll get the books as well.

Movie Review: This love may come softly but it will hit you hard.
Summary: 5 Stars

Trust me, you're going to love this movie. It is perfectly wonderful. It has all the goodies of a fine romance novel as well as a delicious dose of laughter at times when you can't seem to see the screen from the tears in your eyes. I loved this movie as well as I did the book and we all know how hard it is to love both. They missed nothing in this movie. Janette Oke must be standing beside the director on this one. I hope they do the whole Love Comes Softly Series! This is a surprise 5 stars! It will hit you hard, where it counts...in the heart.

Movie Review: Not true to the book
Summary: 5 Stars

The first time I watched this movie I was disappointed because it is not true to the book in many facets. Clark is not a recent grieving widow himself, he doesn't seem at all surprised or dismayed by finding out about Marty's pregnancy, his daughter is much older than Missy in the book, etc. But when I viewed the movie again (and yet again) I have given it 5 stars because although it isn't completely true to the book in a lot of areas it is in itself a tender love story, very well cast, well acted and satisfying in all those aspects.

Movie Review: Great Family Entertainment
Summary: 5 Stars

I have really enjoyed the movies. I watched the movies before I read all the books in The Love Comes Softly series. I have enjoyed the books very much. However, I wish the movies were based more on the books themselves instead of adding their own material or changing characters. I know Missy is a main character in the books but they really are about Marty and Clark and how their family continues to grow. I still highly recommend both the books and the movies. I just wish the movies were more true to the books themselves.

Movie Review: Something for the whole family
Summary: 5 Stars

Simply one of the best movies I have seen in the past five years. The characters are engaging, a man trying to raise his daughter, a pregnant woman who just lost her husband, a supportive town trying to live in the face of the challenges of the Great Plains in winter. The story is delightful and realistic.

I highly recommend this film as both entertaining as well as a great jumping off point for family and youth group discussions about the meaning of love.

Nicely done!
