Movie Reviews of Lost in YonkersMovie Review: One of my favorites Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is great! The characters' eccentricities all come together perfectly. Mercedes Ruehl and Irene Worth, who were both in Neil Simon's broadway production, were just as great, if not better, in this film. One thing I have always liked about film as opposed to plays is that the characters don't always have to speak loudly. In dramatic parts of this movie, especially parts between Grandma and Bella, the dialogue is much softer, adding to its sincerity. It really adds more to the scene. This movie really brings out the talents of not-so-well-known actors like Susan Merson, Mike Damus, Brad Stoll and Jack Laufer. I highly recommend seeing this movie at least once. Chances are you'll probably want to see it again.
Movie Review: EXCELLENT! Summary: 5 Stars
Lost in Yonkers on DVD! Who would ever think! I remember back in the day, I hard a hard time finding it on VHS! Leave it to Amazon! You can find virtually anything you have ever dreamed of at Amazon.com - What a great service - it's all at our fingertips. Shipping is much quicker than they originally state (at least for all of my past orders), and the items are as good or better than they state! The prices are great (you can compare and pick from the listed choices of different vendors offering the product). I am a very satisfied customer!
Movie Review: Perfect humor to follow a 'heavy movie' Summary: 5 Stars
Keep this one on hand for after you've watched a 'heavy' movie and are feeling a bit down because of it. The interaction between the grandmother and her two grandsons who are dropped off so their father can see about a job is fantastic. The grandmother seems 'stern' beyond belief and the young boys are terrified of her, but they are able to discover her hidden layers. There is a touching scene between the dimwitted 'Bella' and her mother that you won't want to miss.

Movie Review: Life Lessons Summary: 5 Stars
I found that the importance of loving your children was emphasized in this film. This dysfunctinal family was a direct result of the parents not loving their children. Every child of the grandmother in the film had emotional problems that were a direct result of verbal and in some cases physical abuse. It is only by the grace of God that parents can raise their children properly. Grace was rejected in this family.
Movie Review: how could I not love it?! Summary: 5 Stars
This briliant adaptation of the Neil Simon play was filmed on the very street where I live. Mercedes Rheul and Richard Dreyfuss are stunning in their roles as are 'grandma' and the boy. For me, the warm feelings are enhanced seeing familiar sites, but what stands out most of all is the characters and their touching humanity. The DVD version is a must see bringing more scope to what was already a wonderful film.
