Movie Review: Stunning

I am an enormous fan of Loreena McKennitt's music. That's my bias and now let's move on. Like some others, I bought this DVD/CD set back when she was touring this Spring. That performance was a magical experience. Unfortunately, I missed this concert on TV so I jumped at the opportunity to buy the DVD at the concert. Since then I've listened to the CD many times as well as viewing the DVD regularly. I'm in love with both. They capture the essence of what it is to see this wonderful woman (and her equalling wonderful band) perform live.
First off, the CD. I just published a thorough review on iTunes under the name 'The Stolen Child'. For a basic overview: lots of great updates of old favourites (and new), only two complaints (tiny Lady of Shallot, too much electric guitar on Stolen Child), and RAGLAN ROAD. That song alone is worth the price for this set. It's heartbreakingly beautiful. A fantastic job is done by every musician that graces this CD with their presence; Hugh Marsh, especially, is just explosive!
The DVD: Beautifully done. Some lovely shots of the Spains Moorish regions. It truly is perfect; the camera even managed to capture some of the energy that's always bursting from Loreena's performances. I love this DVD dearly and if love music and a good performance, chances are, you will too.
This combination is a necessity for any Loreena McKennitt fan. It's really wonderful; I don't think you can go wrong. Even the packaging looks nice. In fact, I'm somewhat jealous of those of you who are buying this DVD now. I like this cover even more than the earlier one (and that's saying something)!
