Movie Review: There is an alternative to the lackluster US-Bluray.

Don't get fooled: The 5-star rating is for the movie itself, not for BD-release! I'm from Germany but I often buying overseas since in germany sometimes we get inferior versions of movies on DVD, or now Bluray Disc (BD). But when it comes to LORD OF WAR I hesitated in buying the Lions Gate release. It's a shame that this important movie gets such a poor treatment on BD in the US (no Lossless Audio, no Extras at all). And than a rare thing happened over here in germany. We got eventually a better disc. Not only is the English language track in DTS Master Audio, but we also get many of the DVD-Extras carried forward to BD. Among them is the most interesting audio commentary by the director as well as an informative making-of. The PQ ist a vast improvement over the DVD and, of course, it is in it's proper aspect ratio of 2,40:1. Perhaps for some on the downside: There in no actual menue available, so the movie starts right after you put the disc in your player. No problem for me actually! For international buyers of interest: The disc is region codes A, B and C. So, there is a real alternative to the lackluster disc from Lions Gate available.
