Movie Reviews of Live and Let Die (Special Edition)Movie Review: Agent 007 must decide who he will let "Live and Let Die" Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of my favorite James Bond movies available in the 007 film library. This particular one is very, very special to me because this was my very first Bond film that I saw. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to watch more of the Bond movies and I was just amazed at the stunts and filmography involved in them. My favorite part in the movie is the boat chase towards the end of the movie. Bond leads a team of boats through the tributaries of Lousiana and in the process ruins a wedding reception. This is a great movie making it a classic Bond movie and you should order this on DVD format (Digital Video Disc) for the highest sound and picture quality available. You're not only getting excellent picture quality, but also added features like audio commentary by the film makers and my favorite, the theatrical trailer.
Movie Review: Great movie Summary: 5 Stars
Even though live and Let Die may not be in traditional Bond sense, it has things that keep it alive. One is acting. Moore's performance is fairly impressive, Jane Seymour is good as Solitaire, Yaphet Kotto does a good job of acting yet is not a memorable viilain, but Julius harris and Geoffrey holder are excellent and very memorable in their roles of Tee-Hee and Baron samedi. Two is action. The action includes a car chase through the countryside roads of San Monique, an excellent boat chase through the bayous of Louisiana and a chase through NYC. Three is music. Paul McCartney's title song is quite possibly the best ever, and George martin produces a fine score. Overall, my fifth favorite OO7 film, beaten by For Your Eyes Only, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Goldfinger, and the all time best, From Russia With Love.
Movie Review: Superb Bond Film Summary: 5 Stars
Live and Let Die, the first appearence from Roger Moore as James Bond, is easily one of the top three James Bond films ever made. Moore does an excellent job with 007 as he goes up against Mr. Big, aka Kananga, who is plotting to give away free heroine, drive the mafia out of business, increase addicts, and thus take over the drug world. With my favorite Bond girl Solitaire, played by the gorgeous Jane Seymour, Live and Let Die has more humor than most Bonds, great action, intriguing plot, and a superb boat chase through the Louisiana bayous. LALD also has two great henchmen in Tee Hee and Baron Samedi. The opening song by Paul McCartney is the greatest opening song and Roger Moore delivers a more than convincing performance, making Live and Let Die a must have for any viewer.
Movie Review: LIVE AND LET......DIE! Summary: 5 Stars
Roger Moore's first outing as 007 proves to be an interesting one.
Quite a bit of supernatural/voodoo themes in this film. Most interesting is Baron Samedi as the man who cannot die.
Some might remember him from the Goldeneye 64 videogame.
Bond also uses a .44 magnum in this film, which might be a nod to Dirty Harry.
LALD, along with Diamonds Are Forever and The Man with the Golden Gun form sort of a campy, low-budget 007 trilogy. Although LALD is by far the best of the bunch.
It wasn't until 1977 in the Spy Who Loved Me did Roger Moore really find his stride as 007, and he had a terrific run of films ending with 1985's A View to a Kill
Movie Review: Funky, Bad-A** Bond. . . Summary: 5 Stars
This is my favorite James Bond movie ever. I'm just going to list the reasons why:
1. Voodoo
2. Tarot card reading Jane Seymore loses her powers of foresight along with virginity
3. Crocodiles
4. Boat Chase
5. Redneck Tobacco Chewing Cop
6. Paul McCartney wrote the title song (also my favorite Wings song)
7. Fabulous maniacle laughter from several characters
Some may say this Bond movie is cheesy, over-the-top and a drastic change of pace from older and newer Bond flicks. To them I say, I agree, but the result is fantastic. Its a Bond movie: its cheesy, its entertaining, action-packed (o.k., maybe a little over-packed) and not to be taken too seriously.
