Movie Reviews of Little Children

Movie Review: Awesome reality movie
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie may offend some people with it's straight forward realism. I think some people may have rated the movie in an negative fashion because they most likely relate to the three playground critics.
I love this movie for many reasons but most of all because I think many of us can relate to these character's in one way or another. Many of us know at least one "Mary Ann" that we have to deal with in life. Such fake people like her often invade our lives. Many of us long to be in the shoes of "Brad or Sarah" depending on your gender of course. Many of us are "Brad" or "Sarah".
I definately recommend this movie for anyone age 25+ married or single or married with the urge to be single.

Movie Review: Desperate Housewives, Husbands... Lost in Suburbia
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a brilliant and engaging movie exploring lives of quiet desperation in affluent American suburbia. The cast is stellar. The voice-over narration provides a documentary feel with an ironic and at times humorous tone, evoking an anthropological study or a wildebeast special on The Discovery Channel. Toward the movie's end, the narration is poignant.

At times, the film reminded me of AMERICAN BEAUTY in its exploration of the darker subtext of American suburbs. The end evoked for me CRASH, as people transcend their biases to help their fellow human beings.

I was not expecting the film to be this good but it is one of the best movies I have seen in the past year.

Movie Review: Hidden Treasure
Summary: 5 Stars

"Little People" is an example of why I don't take the Oscar nominees seriously. Each year, far too many unsung films and performances are forgotten in the kinetic flurry of the nominations. Awards don't impress me anyway. This movie never lets the viewer know where it is going. The underlying dread accompanying the telling of this story is the product of the sexual deviant's presence throughout the film.
I know Jennifer Connolly is supposed to be the drop dead gorgeous one of the two female actors, but Kate Winslet is my pick any day by her look and by her character's intellect; an unbeatable combination.
This film is a hidden gem. I can't recommend it enough.

Movie Review: Little Children
Summary: 5 Stars

Based on the acclaimed novel by Tom Perrotta, Field's unsettling, often irreverent portrait of suburban malaise features a cathartic performance by Winslet, whose singular talents are on high-beam display. Sarah is unfulfilled by life as a stroller pusher; Brad has failed the bar twice and seems unfit for a career in law; both need escape from isolating routine and distant spouses, and find it in each other. As he did in "In the Bedroom," Field takes his time developing the emotional tension, pacing us gradually toward a jarring conclusion. Former child actor Haley, in a superb turn, gives the film extra appeal as a scary, darkly funny, and vulnerable pervert.

Movie Review: A movie that makes you think...
Summary: 5 Stars

'Little Children' is a superbly written screenplay. Without having a network of overly-complicated plots or incomprehensible themes, the film is engaging and thought provoking. Themes of isolation, romantic relationships and lost youth are approached from a fresh angle, bringing new interpretations to classic themes. The character's circumstances are especially relevant to our modern generations with their concerns laying in mental health, finding love and constantly battling the pervasive feeling of isolation. I recommend it for any night that you are looking for an intellectual movie that isn't quite feel-good but won't get you down either.
