Movie Review: Littlle Big Man
Summary: 5 Stars
What I admire about this film is how Little Big Man ventures into every culture and all walks of life. He sees beauty and evil in all cultures. The characters are all fantastic. Chief Dan George (his grandfather) is my favorite character. He's the kind of grandfather I wish I had! His lines and philosophy are spellbounding. Dustin Hoffman is a versitile actor who can do any style of film. Faye Dunayway is wickedly sexy. I highly recomend this film, and it is one that will be and already is timeless. A very good movie with a specific black humour. Most of all I like George Armstrong Custer who is wonderfully ridiculed. I'm not any Indian anthropologist, but I think that this movie depicts the real life of the late 19th century with no "bad Indians" and "good whites" , but through an objective view that doesn't prefer any of the different cultures (and their drawbacks are often a good source for the parody) But I'm sorry that the battle of Little Big Horn was not shot according to historical facts.Movie Review: Movie Magic!

This is pure movie magic. The kind where people sigh and exclaim, "They don't make them like this anymore!" Actually this movie was made after the time of "They don't make this anymore," which makes it even more special. Dustin Hoffman gives probably his best performance ever and all the actors stand out perfectly. Faye Dunaway is a riot and Chief Dan George is very memorable. My only regret is not having seen this movie in a theatre yet. It is warm, engaging and very funny. I highly recommend the film.Movie Review: All things considered it is among the best

Each supporting character is strong and memorable as is the principal character Jack himself. His many phases of individual interaction brings on increasing interest as he struggles all through the West. This film brings out Dustin Hoffman's earliest performance and sets the scene for all those that follow. Pathos, pride, pity, pettiness as well as pretty darn good are his many moods of Jack. You cannot go wrong with Native American philosophy coupled with White American sensuality. M-m-m-m good.Movie Review: One of the 3 great westerns...ever

This is probably Arthur Penn's and Dustin Hoffman's finest hour and a 1/2.
Penn totally captured the absurdities of Thomas Berger's novel of the Wild West gone insane -- and Dustin Hoffman should have won every award available to him. Why say more>
