Movie Reviews of Liar Liar

Movie Review: Carrey's "Mork & Mindy"
Summary: 3 Stars

This is an absolutely saccharine, vapid, funny story with a great hook: A divorced daddy lawyer has his life turned upside down when his disappointed kid (Dad missed another birthday party) gets his birthday wish that his dad could only tell the truth, just for one day.

In the first place, no kid would say "Just for one day," he'd say, "Forever." Be that as it may, the comic possibilities are quite promising, with the manic Jim Carrey in the role of the lying daddy. But ultimately this film very much reminds me of Robin Williams's breakthrough role as Mork in the TV series "Mork & Mindy," which unfortunately is now rarely seen in spite of the huge number of cable channels available. In each LL and M&M, we have an extremely thin, poorly executed backdrop behind a very energetic comedian at his best. This makes for lots of laughs but nothing memorable. Junk food comedy, worth renting but only worth buying for the Carrey faithful.

"Liar Liar" is very much worth watching for the laughs, and there are plenty. The biggest one may be in the bloopers during the end credits, when Swoosie Kurtz zings Carrey beautifully in a way that shows, to no one's surprise, that everybody in on the making of this quickie was completely devoid of illusions about the nature of the film. It's a cute flick, but one that could have been a far better movie if someone had been willing to make it so. As it is, it's at least good for a few laughs, but even a few of the comedy bits are remarkably forced.

Movie Review: Above average comedy
Summary: 3 Stars

Carrey fans are sure to enjoy this comedy, as it includes what are perhaps some of his best lines (Thanks dad!/Thanks son!) and may even manage to rate as passable by the masses of people who can't stand Carrey out there (he's marginally less manic than he was in Ace Ventura, you see...marginally). Perhaps the main criticism of the film is that once the premise gets underway (a lawyer, played by Carrey, becomes unable to lie after his son wishes for it on his bithday) things becomes a bit obvious and formulaic, i.e. Carrey bumps into all sorts of people he would rather not tell the truth too, and does things that he would rather not admit...you can imagine all the scenarios, and practically all of them end up happening in this film. All in all, it will prove a delight for Carrey fans, and decent enough for everyone else.

Movie Review: Forcing Lawyers to be truthful, what a concept!
Summary: 3 Stars

A story about a lawyer that can't lie! Of course all states have rules that a lawyer must be disbarred for allowing a false statement to enter the courtroom. This movie takes the notion that most people share, that lawyers are paid liars, and creates a humor comic devise. A lawyer that must tell the truth!

The movie is even family friendly.

I Didn't see this when it first came out. It was much better than I expected. Not as good as pet detective, but it is an interesting premise, and Carrey did a great job carrying it off.

Movie Review: Liar Liar...ummm So So
Summary: 3 Stars

I saw Liar Liar and I though it was ok. This was deffenitaly not one of Jim Carry's best! Yes, it did have it's funny moments but a lot of it just talked about sex. And if I want to see a movie I mostly want it to be funny! And Jim Carry is funny in all his movies including this one but this was not his best! So I would say,"yeah go see it", and if you like it buy it but don't buy it if you haven't seen it yet! thanks for reading!

Movie Review: Jim Carry at One of His Best
Summary: 3 Stars

Jim Carry is funny in a lot of movies but this one is not the best one that he was in. I would still by it and I guess that you will watch it more then one time!
