Movie Review: Quite the disappointment.

First off, let me say, I really like Lewis Black and his style of comedy and I think he is probably THE funniest comic on the scenes today.That said, I did not like this DVD. It is NOT an apt representation of Lewis Black's comedy. The DVD contains the same stand-up routines that were shown on Comedy Central over the past few years, and thus Black was forced to CENSOR his act. While he maintains his wild personality bubbling over with rage and insanity, this is only a fraction of what he does and says when he is uninhibited. The weather skit just doesn't work as well without the "gorilla," and the sunblock skit doesn't work as well without the "zebra."
I've been waiting for a DVD from Black for a long time, and this "Comedy Central Presents" one is a vast VAST disappointment. It's good perhaps for beginner fans, but if you are a true fan of Lewis Black, stick with his uncensored cds and hope that he releases a video that isn't tainted by television censoring.
Don't get me wrong, you will laugh while watching this cd, perhaps uncontrolably so, but it's just not the "real" Lewis Black.

Personally I didn't enjoy this one as much as did as "Black on Broadway" or "Red White and Screwed" both of which were "halarious". Not the fact that they are just funny but true to life and quite accurate. He seems to be much funnier at Stand - up comedy then to situation comedy.Movie Review: Disappointing

I liked Lewis Black very much when he was on the Daily Show, with his sharp comments about current news items. The humor on this DVD lacks the sharpness and the bite. He seems to always start with weak jokes about the weather, on his DVDs. Sorry I bought this one.Movie Review: Saying f*** doesn't make it funny.

As a long time fan of Lewis Black, this CD comes as a huge disappointment. Too much of the material consists of political observations and critique that misses the comedy mark. Political humor is ok as long as it's humorous. This material isn't. We already have Will Durst to discuss politics and not be funny. Also, I already know that it's cold in Minnisota in the winter. Just because he says it's f***ing cold does not make it funny. Lewis Black has shown much more creativity in the past. It appears that he did not have enough material and figured he could just fill time with f*** and the news. Maybe I can sell the CD on ebay.
