Movie Reviews of Let It RideMovie Review: One of the Funniest Movies Ever Made Summary: 5 Stars
I first saw this movie in the early 1990s, and having been known to place a bet or two, it became my own cult classic. But, you do not need to be a fan of horse racing to enjoy Trotter's "good day" at the track. Richard Dryfus, whose name I can never spell correctly, gives an inspired performance as a race track regular who just wants "one really good day" before giving up the horses to save his marriage to Terri Garr. Breaking with his own tradition, instead of collecting his winnings on a sure thing, he decides to let the bet ride, and sets in motion events that will literally have you laughing out loud even if you are watching the movie by yourself.
Movie Review: Very funny movie Summary: 5 Stars
This is just an outstanding movie that unfortunately flopped at the box office. This film was directed by Joe Pytka, who is extremely succesful in T.V . commercials, but less so in movies. This film is funny, touching, has and has a great soundtrack. Richard Dreyfuss plays the loser who against all odds has a great day at the track. It also is love story, with Terri Garr as his wife and Jennifer Tilly in her prime as a knockout possible extra-curricular interest. An over the top hilarious supporting role by David Johansen and a really funny small part by Robbie Coltrane as a cashier just add to the fun. Especially enjoyable for anyone who has ever gambled.
Movie Review: I got the horse right here..... Summary: 5 Stars
I loved this movie from the first time I saw it. It makes you want to go to the track and try your luck.
Richard Dryfuess is at his best, he plays "Trotter", a cab driver with bills, an almost ex-wife (Terri Garr) with goofy friends that just needs a break and he finds it. You will notice alot of the stars in it, including Michelle Phillips from the Mama's and the Papa's and a VERY young Cynthia Nixon from Sex and the City.
Buy it, get some popcorn, and enjoy the laughs. Don't be surprised to find yourself checking your bank account and looking for the nearest track...."cause you might be walkin' around lucky, and never even know it".
Movie Review: Let It Ride a great ride Summary: 5 Stars
A true sleeper. One of the funniest movies you never heard of. The humor is spontaneous. The characters, if you have ever hung out at the track, are not far fetched by any means. For me, the best line in the movie is when Trotter (Dreyfuss) is walking behind the paddock and Jennifer Tilly sneaks up on him from behind, covers his eyes and says "Guess who?" His answer: "A football salesman." It's that kind of quick one-liners that keeps you rolling. Get this movie. You'll have a very good day.
Movie Review: One of my FAVE movies! Summary: 5 Stars
You have to see this movie if you love comedy or horseracing or Richard Dreyfus or just wanna have fun! David Johanson, that fab frontman from the very first glam band "New York Dolls" is a GREAT actor! Made me laugh my a** off! I actually have this on the ancient Laserdisc format and went nuts finding the DVD! Gotta get it! If you are a DVD nut like me, you know you can't depend on regular stores to stock everything! Gotta get this one online. What are you waiting for?
