Movie Reviews of Les Paul

Movie Review: Les is more
Summary: 5 Stars

The living legend sits down for a chat. The old TV clips are fun and so is Les. His stories let us see glimpses of his life in Music. While I can't sit down with Les personally and ask questions of this man this hour long chat was a romp through the years. Any Fan will enjoy this a lot. I got this after the Chasing sound DVD. And it's a nice addition to this man of music life story.

The wizard of Waukesha lives up to his legend.

Movie Review: Les Paul
Summary: 5 Stars

When I ordered this DVD I didn't know what to expect, but I soon learned
that it was very educational. Les Paul is one of the gensis's of the
20th century. This is a must see DVD if for no other reason then to see
the master pick on his guitar. This interview with Les was very entertaining and informative. Well worth the price on this product.

Movie Review: "Les Paul"- The DVD (The Interview with Jon Chappell)
Summary: 4 Stars

"Les Paul"- "Les Paul (Instructional DVD For
Guitar)" this DVD produced by the Hal Leonard Corporation is a 90 minute sit down interview with Jon Chappell and the legendary Les Paul. Now that may not sound exciting, but when you stop to consider who Les Paul was,and the contributions he made to modern music and the then nascent recording industry, it borders on "must see" viewing. For those who don't know, Les Paul invented the electric guitar. Today it is the world's number one musical instrument. He would also perfect the technology of what he called "sound on sound", and what today is known as multi-track recording. All of this and more, are reviewed and explained at length in this in-depth "Les Paul" DVD. Interspersed with the Jon Chappell interview is live video footage shot during the last twenty years, of Les Paul and his band playing in New York jazz clubs. As well as historic early television footage from the 1950's, coming from Les Paul's own television show, "The Les Paul Mary Ford Show". This television footage is important, not only to the life of Les Paul, but to the history and development of television and multi-media as well. During the interview Les Paul will discuss the electric guitar, and it's place in music. He explains how he improvised both jazz guitar and blues guitar lines live in concert. He demonstrates the electric guitar techniques of guitar slides, guitar hammers, and guitar bends. All of which he helped to introduce and make popular, to guitar players around the world. Les Paul then reveals how he invented the electric guitar in the late 1920's, and the ten years it took for him to convince the Gibson Guitar Company to buy both his electric guitar, and it's accompanying amplifier. He had invented the guitar amplifier of course, to amplify the sound coming from the electric guitar strings. He goes on to explain how he sold his "sound on sound" recording machine, or multi-track recorder to AMPEX. His recording career (he and Mary Ford sold 20 million records) with Capitol Records is also covered. Please don't miss this "Les Paul- Instructional DVD For Guitar" DVD. It really does enlighten and educate it's viewers about one of the most important figures in 20th Century music, the recording industry, recording technology, and multi-media. All of which are becoming more prominent in this 21st Century. Many people working in these areas today, enjoy the fruits of Les Paul's labor. Hopefully this little review will be helpful for guitar players, music and multi-media people. [...].
