Movie Review: Overtime DVD

A most excellent double DVD ... recorded in Hi-Definition and the sound quality is superb! The musicians and their performances are great but I have one major complaint... after just about every song there is an interview with one or more of the musicians. The continuity of the performance is disturbed by this IMO and the interviews, while entertaining in their own right, would be better placed as a DVD extra. Overtime is the perfect Title for this DVD. Becouse all of the Artists that appear have just improved.
Lee Ritenour & Dave Grusin have been two of my favorite Jazz Artists since they first started recording together in 1985 with Duet CD Harlequin with Ivan Lins on vocal. It is great to hear Ivan sing songs like Harlequin & Water To Drink Again! Kenya Hathaweay & Grady Harell do a great job on vocals on Papa was a rolling Stone & Is It You.

I've been a fan of Lee Ritenour for the last 30 years. He's a great musician and artist. The concept for this video really works for me. He has assembled some of the greatest musicians (who are his friends) and they are playing for each other in the intimacy of a recording studio. I have followed Lee music twenty years ago and he keeps the great ability to compose, perform and play live his music. All guest musicians are very good players too, resalting Dave Grusin and Ivan Lins. This is a DVD that all Jazz Fans should be enjoy to hear....Movie Review: AWESOME

This has to be one of the best recorded DVD up-to-date. The sound and visual quailty is excellent. The band performance is a sight to see, and ears to hear. Mr. Ritenour for all of us, thanks for producing a excellent DVD.
