Movie Reviews of Leap of FaithMovie Review: WOW Summary: 5 Stars
What an awesome movie! I have already watched so many Steve Martin's movies but in this one he gives us the best performance ever. Jonah, is a public religious speaker who goes from town to town to heal and give hope to people. A whole team works for him. His main assistant gathers and passes on the information to him about people in the audience. Everything she says he got it through the "GOD" (microphones in his ears)...Very very very funny for us and very very very threatening and serious for phony people such as Benny Hinn and some other wackos like himself. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Movie Review: A Joy to Watch! Summary: 5 Stars
This is Steve Martin at his finest. Working as a revival preacher, Martin gets to use his powerful voice and presence as he 'heals' people. Debra Winger as his manager does an excellent job of providing balance and bringing humanism to what is essentially a huckster role.
This is a fun, fast, toe tapping film. When Martin confronts his own power as a persuader he has his own personal crisis. Food for thought for all of us.
Movie Review: Take the Leap of Faith. . .please! Summary: 5 Stars
One of the best films of Steve Martin's career, Leap of Faith is a poignant and often funny look behind the scenes of a flim-flam man out to con the faithful. Billed as a comedy but much more a look at the dark side of celebrity, demagoguery and religious persuasion, Leap of Faith reveals that God works in mysterious ways. Faith, when it's genuine, can work miracles and in it's light the false works of trickery are exposed.
Movie Review: dvd Summary: 5 Stars
Is this a case of Art imitating Life? With all the disclosures about them in the news, Evangelists are suspect. This movie was based on some of the more notorious among them. Steve Martin can do it all: comedy, drams, musicals, and now a documentary? If you like the message, but have doubts about the messenger, then, this movie is for you.
Movie Review: Best Steve Martin ever Summary: 5 Stars
The best Steve Martin movie ever. Debra Winger is superb and you can even ignore the anomaly of a tall Irish sheriff in Kansas. Great script, excellent acting, fantastic music (get the soundtrack).Rather than waste your money on Burning Down the House get this instead.
