Movie Review: Great start, follow up, and ending.
Summary: 5 Stars
An anime series I can be satisfied with. It began very strong and ended with some good closure. Unlike some things I seen this year. The ending was 4 very good episodes that made sure it answered alot of questions. To include there is no way to look for a sequel.
This final volume answers alot. The talking skull, Lia's murder are all explained in great detail and so are hidden agendas. There are battles in this, but the thing I love about this anime. Is the battles only occur when necessary. Not to wake up the action fanatics. The battles are not dragged out and are overly dramatic. When the knights clash it pretty much just happens without a bunch of corny dialogue. To include the death scenes.
The character development is a plus as well. Mostly concerning Robin. The twist kept on coming and worked out very well to me. In the end, it was hard for me to dislike anyone who appeared evil. Every character served their purpose up until the very end. Even when the episodes were at the slow point. There was something going on in the story to keep the suspense up. There were several flashbacks but it never lost momentum once to me.
This was one of the finer anime series to come out last year. It has a great story, plot, characters, and ending that can probably satisfy anyone. I can say with all confidence that Le Chevalier d' Eon has found a permenant home in my vast collection. I'm definitly sure that I'll be watching this again from 1 to 6 before this weekend is over. If it sounds like I'm overhyping this. Then I just guess I am. This was a very entertaining series for me. And unless you're the type who must see loads of action and blood. This may disappoint you. All I have to say is, I'm glad that I heard of it.
The DVD's extras contain several trailers. And Historical Notes that can only be read. Like the Spanish War Succession, French and Indian War, Seven Years War, Polish War, and Austrian War. To all the veteran anime fans and newbies looking for something new. This wouldn't be a bad series to checkout at all.
