Movie Review: My Favorite Movie

This is my favorite movie. I have been watching this movie for years. The story of Billie Holiday was well told. It shows how even a very talented person can have an illness(drug addiction.It also shows the struggle of many black women in general.Being raped no parents in the home etc...I enjoyed this movie even more because I felt Diana Ross and Richard Pryor played their roles very well. THE MUSIC IS MAGIC AND DIANA ROSS PLAYS LADY DAY LIKE IF SHE WAS POSSESSED WITH HER SOUL AND BLUES.
I'VE SEEN THIS MOVIE HUNDREDS OF TIMES AND I CRY AND LAUGH, EVERY TIME.
I HAVE PURCHASED THIS MOVIE SEVERAL TIMES TO GIVE IT TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
DON'T HESITATE AND ENJOY THE RIDE !!! VERY STRONG.

THIS MOVIE LEAVES ME SPEECHLESS. DIANA ROSS IS THE BEST ACTRESS EVER - SHE PLAYS BILLY HOLIDAY SO WELL. THIS MOVIE MAKES ME FEEL EACH SONG AND EACH EMOTION SHE WENT THROUGH. FOR THOSE THAT HAVEN'T SEEN IT THE MOVIE IS A BIOGRAPHY OF THE JAZZ SINGER BILLY HOLIDAY. VERY INTERESTING, AND I THINK ITS AN IMPORTANT MOVIE FOR BLACK HISTORY. Lady Sings the Blues showcased Diana Ross's talents as an actress, and also her range of singing abilities. I'm glad that it is now out on DVD. Miss Ross along with Billy Dee Williams, and Richard Pryor did a superb job in this movie.
This movie also garned more interest in learning about the life of the late Miss Billie Holiday.

Absolutely stunning! I first saw this movie in 1976 and it is even better than I remembered it. Ross's performance, and that of Billy Dee Williams are both excellent. It's such a pity that this movie seems to have disappeared off the screens of most shops today. I have been searching for it for years.
