Movie Reviews of Ladies in Lavender

Movie Review: Magical
Summary: 5 Stars

Ladies in Lavender is a 2004 British drama film written and directed by Charles Dance, who based his screenplay on a short story by William J. Locke.

A sweet and magical story that truly touched my heart. The premise of the film is universal...love and its terrible, wonderful effects on the heart.

The soundtrack is equally beautiful.

Movie Review: They don't make them like this anymore
Summary: 5 Stars

Here is a wonderful experience for people who still respect old age.
The director (Mr. Dance) has prepared a feast both for the eye and ear.
My wife and I rented the video and just had to have it in our collection
so as to savor the experience again and share it with our friends. Yes,
we are over seventy. Try this film, you will be delighted.

Movie Review: Judi and Maggie together again!
Summary: 5 Stars

This film displays the brilliance and talent of two of the classiest women in show-business, Judi Dench and Maggie Smith. Miriam Margolyes is also wonderful as the maid. The setting is absolutely beautiful in Cornwall, England, and the story is quite touching, with a tasteful mix of humor. You will fall in love with this film and these wonderful British ladies.

Movie Review: Ladies In Lavender
Summary: 5 Stars

Put Two old dames in the one movie and you get a treasure . This movie is one of the best I have seen this year . Judi Dench surprisingly lets Maggie Smith take much of the limelight as her character is less confident in the ways of the world .Once again you cannot fault the British for period movies and the location for the film is perfect.

Movie Review: A Beautiful Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

I rented this movie, and loved it so much that I ordered it from Amazon. This movie has so much going for it----wonderful actresses,Judi Dench and Maggie Smith and a beautiful English coastal setting. This story reminds the viewer, that we are never too old to feel the longing to love and be loved.
