Movie Reviews of LabyrinthMovie Review: Magical fantasy adventure for all ages! Summary: 5 Stars
"Labyrinth", directed by Jim Henson, is one of my all-time favorite children's fantasies. It's about teenage aspiring actress, Sarah (Jennifer Connelly), who's sick and tired of being mistreated by her parents (Shelley Thompson and Christopher Malcolm) because she thinks her baby brother gets all the attention. Sarah soon begins to hate her baby brother and wishes that he would be taken away by evil goblins. Miraculously, Sarah's wish comes true...but now she's afraid of what might happen to her brother and wants him back. So to get him back, she must embark on a journey through an enchanted labyrinth maze to get her brother back from the evil king goblin (David Bowie). Along the way, she meets many magical creatures and defeats dangerous tasks as she learns what's really important about family. The film's special effects were done by the Lucasfilm company (yes, George Lucas's effects company). The acting is superb from the entire cast, especially a very young Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie. The storyline is wonderful, but the DVD is lacking, with only trailers, production notes, and one documentary on the making of the film. "Labyrinth" might actually not be for all ages, since it can be a little scary...esepcially the goblins might creep some young children out. But it is still a must. I highly recommend "Labyrinth". Score: 100/100 A+
Movie Review: Classic from childhood that still holds up Summary: 5 Stars
The Labyrinth is one of those childhood classics that you might dread to watch again for fear that the magic that once existed might disappear forever when viewed through the eyes of an adult. Although this is true for many childhood films, it is not so for The Labyrinth.
The magical world of Brian Froud, made real through Jim Henson's direction and puppetry remains unchallenged over 20 years later. The inimitable creatures and characters that exist in the world of The Labyrinth; including Sir Didymus, the noble fox, who rides atop his canine steed, Ludo, the sasquatchian rock-caller, Hoggle, the begrudgingly friendly troll, and of course, David Bowie in the equally threatening and charming Goblin King.
When Sarah, a young Jennifer Connelly wishes that her baby brother Toby (Toby Froud) be taken away by the Goblin King, she never dreams that it would literally happen. Now she only has a matter of hours to make her way through the labyrinth and reclaim her brother before he will be kept in the Goblin castle forever.
The music is amazing, the visuals are unmatched, and the character voices are right on the money. This movie is perfect for anyone of any age at any time. If you haven't seen it yet I don't know what you're waiting for, and if you don't have it on DVD yet, well, here it is so stop reading this and buy it.
Movie Review: A Timeless Classic! Summary: 5 Stars
A guilty pleasure for me, Labyrinth is a made-for-kids movie with just enough weird stuff in it to appeal to teens (like a peeing goblin, a worm with a Cockney accent and an Escher-like chase scene). Not to mention that it was one of beautiful Jennifer Connelly's first starring roles. George Lucas produced and Muppet creator Jim Henson directed this adventure of a teenage girl who must venture into an enchanted labyrinth and castle to tangle with an evil sorcerer (David Bowie) and rescue her baby brother. Monty Python's Terry Jones co-wrote the script, and the great Elaine May reportedly took a pass at it as well. Bowie performs several songs. Columbia has released the film in a sparkling, very impressive new Superbit edition, which forgoes the extras to make more room for higher quality picture and sound.

5 stars all the way.
Movie Review: How do you describe perfection? Summary: 5 Stars
Labyrinth. The very word brings a smile to my face. After watching this movie you will feel happy as well, and probably a little sadness. But what is one without the other?Sarah, a teenager bored with her mundane life, lives in her own fantasy world. But when one of her fantasys comes to life, and she is face to face with the beautiful and frightening goblin king, is it really all she wished for? Can she solve the Labyrinth, save her little brother, and get home... and if she reaches the center, will she want to? I have tried long and hard to think of words to describe this, but I don't think there are any. You can't put it into it's neat little slot. How would you classify it? Childrens movie? It has elements of one perhaps, but look deeper. Muppet movie? No quite there yet... The closest I can get to it is strange and haunting fantasy. It is suitable for all ages and yet it is still entertainment, pure and simple and wonderful. I am deeply in love with this movie, as you probably can tell. While other movies have come and gone as my favorites, this has survived the test of time. Look at the ratings. Are all these wonderful reviews just coincidence... or fate? If you haven't seen it, you are missing out. Take some time, sit down, get comfy, and open your mind. Once you enter, you may not want to turn back.
Movie Review: Amazing Summary: 5 Stars
This is, without a shadow of doubt the most wonderful fantasy tale I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Whether your young or old, this tale will capture your heart instantly with its loveable characters and brilliant cast. Jennifer Connelly plays the part of a troubled teenager convincingly without being cheesey - a refreshing change!David Bowie - my first love, is, in my opinion the only person who could have played the part of the Goblin King. He portrays his part as cruel, but he is so very charming you cannot resist liking him. The fantastic costumes and wild colours wrap this film up into a delightful parcel - a definate must for any fantasy lovers! The tale is simple but effective. Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) must fight her way through the terrific Labyrinth to save her baby brother for being turned into a goblin by the Goblin King, Jareth (Bowie). With the help of Hoggle, Ludo and a whole host of other amazing creatures makes this a tale of friendship, love and excitement!I leave you with one thing, 'Give back the child. Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered I have fought my here to the castle beyond the goblin city to take back the child that you have stolen. For my will is as strong as yours and my kingdom is great. You have no power over me!'. Enjoy everyone, enjoy!*L
